Hi, I want to move to California or any other place where there's a http://www.wyotech.com/ campus.

Since I've never been to the US, I've been wondering how life would be in say, Sacremento, Fremont or Oakland. Since they would be the main campuses i would want ot go to.

Just want to know how life is generally like and that the myths you see on TV are bullshit.

Oh, and how hard is it to get a job in those areas? Im training to be a mechanic.

California is hard to Catagorize. Its like its own country there are over 50 million people living here and it has just about every climate you can think of. People who havent been to California have no clue, and most people who live in California but who haven't traveled the scope of it dont have a clue either.

It has large amounts of bohemian and gay and arty/college types in abundance in 1/2 of the densly urban areas like LA and San Francisco and the East Bay Area, and they claim a tiny number of small towns too like Sebastapol or Bahia and some towns where the main industry is Marijuana up north. The rest of California is redneck. California produces 1/3 the countries food, and there are tons of agri towns with rednecks. While California is a blue state this is only because of the density of its cities. The vast majority of its land is occupied by right wing rednecks. We also have possibly the large Airplane Industry in the world and you wont see many hippies working at say... Lockheed or Boeing. So we have a huge amount of Military People and people who work as Military Contractors--and I doubt they are the hippy fags everyone assumes Californians are.

Ive lived in both Sacramento and Oakland before. It depends on what you like to do. I havent lived in Fremont, is it a Cow Town? I mean is Fremont just a bunch of farmers and cows and industrial pesticides and fat acne cowgirls?

Sacramento is just a mid sized city. Theres a river called the American River that flows through it and people drink booze and paddle down it in boats. But that sums it up:Mid Sized City. You'll find all of the mid sized city culture there (a foreign film theatre ,a Junior College. a state college ,a comic book store, several malls), which is the same as other mid sized cities. Last time I lived there it was a bunch of parking lots that were kind of empty with people wearing mustaches walking around on Crystal Meth.
It has a fairly hip downtown I guess. Little bohemian wannabe's abound, like all mid sized cities. Sacramento on the whole is fairly conservative and Christian so the rest of Northern California the liberals I guess,(Parts of the the Bay Area and San Fran. for example) They hate Sacramento, they call it Excremento--cus its consired a bastion of Republicanism and Fundy Christians by them.
But in terms of culture its like a Mini Orange County with more artsy fartsy stuff minus the Beach culture. It kind of like Southern California in Northern California. Or in other words all the reasons Bay Area people hate Orange County Sacramento has--White trash and Fundementalist Christians and Methamphetamines etc etc.

Im a fairly big fan of mid sized cities, so I liked Sacramento, though it was a bit on the dull side it was easy to live there. To me Mid SIzed Cities are all kind of the same( I've lived in at least a dozen in 9 states).. No matter what state they are in.

Oakland--Thats fairly urban. People love talking about how rough it is, but they are wrong. The side of oakland that borders Berkely is cracktown--and rough, but there are nice spots to live in Oakland in the hills- nobody who isn't from the Bay Area would beleive me on this though. If you live in Oakland its more like you live in the East Bay. The East bay is my favorite place to live, and theres more Chicks who like to fuck in the East bay then anywhere in the USA. It has the horniest women in the world as far as I'm concerned you can't spit without it landing on a woman who wants to bone--- hard ....till you're both chafed. If your single and you want to get laid constantly, like a new girl every week--then theres no better place to find willing slutty hoes that look good, then around the Berkely Campus. If your married like me for instance, its a bad idea.... that place would break a marriage in a heartbeat.

But considering all of that Sacramento is probably the easiest town to find a place to live, not sure about work though. Oakland probably has more work options because you can take Bart and travel to more places and cover a wider area. You could commute just about anywhere there. Sacramento is more like an island. Some border Suburbs are around it.

And you get to see important buildings. My grandma live next to a big Adobe building, and is no more than 10 minutes away from Sun, Apple, CDRW, and some other places I do not wanna name. Oh yeah, Paramounts Great America is really close to her too.

SACRAMENTO RULES!!! I live there and I'm pretty satisfied. Yes true, things are a bit more expensive in CA (houses, gas, etc) but hey it's a pretty good city. And the traffic isn't as bad as it is in LA.

So far nothing as far as college, I'm looking to start going in January probably for music.

And NY is so great for this one reason: Anything and everything you have in CA, you can find 100 of in Manhatten alone (and chances are it's better here).
I mean honestly, have you ever had real NY pizza? That alone is worth living here. It's a know fact that the further you get from NY, the worse the pizza gets.

New York is gross. Too overpopulated. Wait, so is CA. Uhhhhh, Well we got forests and some areas have wide open spaces.

new york=too densely populated.
california=too gay/up-the-butt-analism (hmmm...where is it where politicians care the most weather or not your gun is black or has a pistol grip?)
lousiana=not too black anymore due to katrina...not too redneck anymore due to all the mexicans who moved over here for work after katrina, not too white as per some black still being here, not too gay, unless you try to live in the frenchquarter, and not up-the-butt-analism on laws.

I'd say come down here to lousiana instead of california.Instead of makeing 7 or 8 dollars an hour working your ass off as a mechanic, just come down here and make 12 dollars an hour flipping burgers!(Yes,12 dollars an hour. The local rallys is offering about 11 dollars an hour, but I've seen 12 dollars an hour at a burger king in metaire)

as well, you won't ever have to worry about gun laws if you choose to own a firearm,as per were a reletively gun-friendly state.

additionally, were just about even on whites, blacks, hispanics, asains, and others due to katrina reduceing the lousiana black population of the 9th ward, and the red neck population that moved up north since they were tired of hurricanes.

additionally, our collages are decent if you choose to go to collage here, and the weather is great. It hardly ever snows, and even in the summer,it hardly climbs over 100,and at the most,110.

so come live here in friendly lousiana,we won't take away your guns!

I lived in San Diego County for like 6 years and its real nice. San Diego is a awsome city with lots of things to do. Beaches are badass down there. Lots of mexicans but not as many queers as northern California. Asians a plenty also. Its really cool because with like a 2 hour drive in any direction you can have beach for surf, desert for riding and snow for ski/snowboarding. It is expensive to live in California though. My GF lives in Laguna Beach and pays out the ass for her apartment.

So do we, just not in the city. If you go to the mainland part of NY ("upstate" as we call it) it's just like any other suburban/rural area.

I would live in San Diego. But dont live in Los Angelos. People think its all Hollywood and shit but actually most of it is a dump. San Diego is really nice and is only an 1 hours drive to L.A. if you just want to visit that area. Dont be shocked if you see alot of homeless people. There is alot by the coastline. Im from Buffalo and was amazed to see how many there were, which kinda sucks but its not like there homeless population is a big deal. O yea and DONT GO TO SAN FRANCISCO!!
unless your homosexual, no offence

the only place ive been to was L.A.....but you can live in chicago and you wont have to deal with the fuckin illegal mexican immigrants, the rediculous traffic, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes...etc. All you really have the deal with is the cold weather...and snow (which we have been lacking in and isnt that bad anyways)...gas and houses/apartments are cheaper here than in cali. i like cali alot...i would like to visit there more often, but it's too much money to live there. if you wanna become a mechanic...you could always go to UTI (universal technical institute)...good school...it's outside the chicago area, more in the suburban (Glendale Heights). They also have UTI in Cali...arizona...florida...texas...annnd pennsylvania.

Holy crap there are people on here from Sacramento???? :err:

In either case, I wouldn't recommend moving to Sac. There is shit to do here and it's just overall boring. I've lived just north of LA as well.........the traffic there is so not worth it. I know everyone is always all "Ooooh, the O.C.!!" Fuck the O.C. or any area down there........SoCal all around just bugged the crap out of me......

I need to get out of California one of these days :banghead:

Earthquakes! LOL

Hahaha

If you even consider Earthquakes as a reason for not living here.. you are insane..

Earthquake!! Nm was a truck rolling by.

EarthQUAKE! oh wait my wife came home and closed the door too fast and it rattled the windows...

Thats what most large quakes Ive been in (including 6.0's) resemble... someone slamming a door in the house, or a large truck driving by. The windows shake a bit. The ground shakes a tiny bit, then, before you realize its happening , its over. Then you find out how people wet their pants over it on the news channels or maybe someones fireplace crumbled, or in x city a window broke. Yadda yadda... they arent a big deal unless the buildings are designed badly--like in Afganistan or something.

This is true. Oakland is not a rough place to live, but if you're not used to it some parts should be avoided, especially west and parts of east oakland. It's a HUGE city though, so of course it's gonna have safe and dangerous areas. I've lived here all my life, and I still love it. Besides, I'm only a few miles from San Francisco.

Were you around during the loma prieta earthquake of 1989? Yes we have some small earthquakes, like the east has some small hurricanes, but the big ones are frightening and destructive. My family knew people who died in that earthquake, freeways crumbled, the SF Bay bridge collapsed. If you think that's the equivolent of a truck driving by you're insane.
