Flip the middle and the first, leave the last.
Switch out the last pair in the first with the last pair in "duck".
Add an "s" at the end of the middle that is now present.
Erase the last.

maybe make an equation out of it to get an idea, like substitute "middle" and "last" as variables like "X" and "Y" . I havent heard a riddle in a few years... at least a good one.
