Anyway, LP mostly sucks but I have enjoyed a song or two by them.

i have honestly always liked linkin parks music it's full of energy and i think chester bennington has a pretty damn good voice. They are also amazing live
besides a few songs by them i think they are one of the best bands to come out in the past 5 years.

Yah, I agree with liquid jesus that Linkin Park kicks ass, and Chester has such a versatile voice too. He can sing softly or scream like no other. I heard a short cover he did of Sweet Child Of Mine, and he pulled it off pretty well. The stuff they write about may be cliche and the rapping may be corny, but I think their sound, their energy, and Chester's anguish in his voice are what appeals to me. Just because they make money does not mean they "lick ass," but of course there are bands who really "lick ass" and make money in my opinion. And as for LP and Jay-Z, I did not understand their collaboration. Yea, it just sucked. YES! And they KICK ASS LIVE.

I haven't listened to Linkin Park in a long while but they were my favorite band for some time. Recently I've been more into SOAD and Slipknot with the occasional Madonna song ;)

Alright. So some of you here want a reason as to why I think Linkin Park sucks.

Well, to begin with, Linkin Park's riffs are an easy target. Why? Because they're completely half-assed. Yeah, some of you may be ready to jump on calling them heavy. Yeah sure, I guess they're heavy, but that's no reason to be used as a cop-out for what Brad Delson does: Detuning a guitar and then playing the same old mindless thudding mosh single-chord sequences over and over does not count as real guitar work, no matter how detuned it is. And yes, that is pretty much what Brad Delson does. Sure, the riffs have a nice Helmet vibe (and Helmet ARE a talented and innovative band), but apparently people think that it's some sort of loophole or excuse to not string together any varying sequences, texture, speed, melody structure, or even so much as a single solo. None. It's just used as some sort of lame attempt at sounding heavy, made complete with Rob Bourdon's unstructured drumming that just keeps an uninspired rap beat while just trying to hit hard on the same drums over and over and thinking it will hold up enough if whiny-voiced singer Chester Bennington screams like a pussy-ass 12-year-old going through puberty enough. Throw in some underlying techno and hip-hop textures and Mike Shinoda's lame-ass back up rapping. You've got Linkin Park.

I WILL say this: I do think that a couple of tracks off of Meteora are decent, and I do believe that Linkin Park are in fact innovators who at least have some decent slithering techno underlines and great vocal melodies. But then again... Let's face it... Linkin Park sucks!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a time where you have to stand up against the MTV-dominated formulaic bands adapted for the drooling mass. A time to storm your nearest MTV station with a hacksaw in one hand and a Melvins album in the other. Yes, there's a band out there called The Melvins, a gem out of the many within the musical underground, showing what real music is all about. It isn't supposed to be made up of simplistic relations that you can easily digest. It's music that's supposed to make you THINK.

...And those are my thoughts.

This is where I can actually give credit to Linkin Park. I know I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but I do actually consider Linkin Park true innovativors. While I believe that their use of instruments is a cop-out and while it's true that Anthrax were the first band to merge rock with rap (some song with Chuck D or some shit), they can at least make a few successful hits at merging thundering metal with techno, industrial and hip-hop.

When Linkin Park put thought into their instruments and don't make their attempt at fusion seem like thudding, let me know.

How about you get off of Hetfield's dick. Metallica sucks, unless you're in High School. If you believe Metallica is what metal is today you deserve the ass kicking.

The fact that it's become some sort of lame and predictable trend to put Metallica in a hole below just about every other thrash metal band as some cram nail for high school posers is getting annoying. Furthermore, Headbanger2 at least knows what he's talking about: Bigoted fags who have nowhere to turn to boost their ego other than flaunt it on some stupid online forum by bashing someone else's tastes without a coherent argument clearly are lacking in any intelligence. Him mentioning a Metallica song was, in the end, at the same level as telling someone to take a fatal medical overdose for hating PMS-influenced mudslinging flamewars on the internet. Instead of addressing his main point, however, you decide to attack Metallica. I laugh at your inability to come up with a decent argument.

Yes. My point is very valid. If you're talking musically, of course. Metallica's music is hardly anything to praise. If you're talking comercially, then probably not. Metal in the mainstream is pretty much dead these days.

It's not a trend to put down early Metallica, in fact I haven't seen anyone do it, yet. What I said in my post is still very true to me, and it's not an argument, because it's not that intention. It's a opinion and therefore cannot be proven true or false.

Btw, I guess you missed the post he made in my thread, ripping on a band that he didn't even listen to.
