View Full Version : It is now time to fire Bill Cowher...

One of the longest running coaches to coach a team in present time, I vow that it is now time to say goodbye to Bill Cowher, another year wasted of Superbowl hopes when you obviously have the talent to get there (bar the offensive line), and he ruins it with his bad playcalling and stupid fucking chin.
So now it's been 2 weeks in a row that bad playcalling has cost the Steelers 2 painful losses. Your team plays well against the fucking COLTS in the first half, should have been 7-13 at the half but due to a bullshit call on Jeff Hartings, it was 7-16...okay, I can handle that. We've handled Manning pretty well aside from 1 80 yard TD play. So what does Slobber decide to do in the second half? Lets kick an onside kick that he SAID he was going to do BEFORE the game...now we all know how rare it is to recover an onside kick, even if the other team doesnt expect it, Slobber doesnt pay no mind to it, and kicks it anyway.
Now Manning has free yards, and the Colts get a TD.......your down by 2 TD's, and a field goal.
So, what could possibly be Slobbers next brilliant playcalling? Him, start of the fourth quarter....1st and 2nd downs Cowher brings in 2 fucking receivers...2...FUCKING...RECEIVERS. Oh but on third down we bring in 3..and guess what? A 30+ yard reception to Cedric Wilson, we are now in the redzone, 4th and 4...this is after a 13 yard run by Roethlisberger, Cowhers call is a QB DRAW against a fast defense.
Speaking of fast defenses, anyone notice that the Colts have a fast defense except COWHER? So you know, usually a small running back like Parker wouldnt be very wise to start...WRONG, Cowher keeps him in there and Parker gets negative yards...woo, brilliant playcalling Cowher.
It's time for Cowher to stop picking on our pathetic division and start thinking about what team he's going too next..he chokes in the playoffs, thats been official, and cant take the heat when the pressure is hard on him.
We've been to 1 Superbowl under Bill Cowher..and lost...after this year it is time to let him go..plain and simple, and maybe we can be Superbowl contenders next year..plain and simple.

Definitley not true. Win loss record- 137-80-1, win %- .631, years as headcoach- 14. And you dont fire somone after one game, especially when that game is against the best team in the NFL and possibly one of the best teams in history at their home indoors with a crazy loud crowd. Also holding them to 26 points when they are averaging 30.5 points a game (which is league leading) is not firable. Only scoring seven points because of, an injured quarterback just gettting back his health and penalties caused by crowd noise is not his fault.
Dont get me wrong im not a steelers fan or a cowher fan i just can believe someone would make that statement. Its ludacris.

Nah, I love the guy. Last year we had all the talent to win the superbowl, we beat the eagles and the pats in the regular season, and i dont blame Cowher for not winning it...I'm not sure who to blame.
JerkyMyTurky
11-29-2005, 04:23 AM
You can't always look to blame someone for a loss. There is something called giving the other team credit. The Colts have beaten 10 other teams this year, they are by far one of the best teams in the league. You lost to a great team and someone has to lose. Cowher is one of the better coaches in the league, I wouldn't fire him.

I think hes a pretty good coach but I didn't agree with the onside kick so early in the game.
jn_powell
11-29-2005, 11:50 AM
Are you fucking high, or just stupid. The Steelers lost because of a combination of poor play by Roethlisberger and excellent play by the Colts defense. The players are the blame for this loss, not the coach. The Colts held the best rushing team in the league to under a 100 yards total and Roethlisberger threw 2 INT's, how is that the coach's fault. If you want to blame a 19 point loss on one onside kick you have some serious issues.
Nick is cool
11-29-2005, 12:14 PM
Am i the only one who agrees with him? You dont do an onside kick with 30 minutes to go that would put the colts in field goal range if they get it. I could understand if they were down by a field goal or something but not down by 9 points. Then on 4th and 4 he calls a qb draw? And i think he calls bad plays every game, he has a good team around him though and hes very lucky he does cause hes not a good coach. I dont think the loss is his fault, seeing that colts are a better team but hes the reason the steelers werent in the game at all in the 2nd half.

The problem is that calls like that sometimes make someone into a hero. If that onside kick would have worked, all of the sudden he would be a genius. Same with the QB draw. Every coach makes calls like that, and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I would hardly use this as an excuse to fire and extremely successful and respected head coach.

This is the first Colts game I've seen all season, so I don't really know much about the team. And maybe someone who watches them a lot will prove me wrong..but this is wat I think. I thought the Colts overall, did not play a great game, the steelers just played a horrible game. From wat I saw from Manning, hes not very good either. Besides the first quarter, he didn't do all that much, and he's absolutely horrible when hes out of the pocket, but yes, he is deadly when hes in it. The colts offensive line is very good though, and without them, Manning wouldn't be doing half as good. And because of some bad play calling, and Rothilisberger possibly still hurt, we just couldn't get anything started.

from a browns fan like me, cowher is a great coach, he gets you to the playoffs liek every other year. Stop complaining you lil bitches. He led you to a 15-1 season last year, he knows how to coach that team. Its not all Big Ben, u need some brains too. The defense helps ALOT but cowher knows what he is doing. are u fuckin joking cowler is an amazing coach. he looks like an angery man but i great coach. Besides belicheck i think cowler is the second best Coach in the league. It's not his falut that big ben got hurt this year, and the steelers had to start either charile batch of tommy maddoux(ouch). But i do have to say something i think the steelers defense is overrated. And i was kinda hoping that they would have put up a better fight so i could have atleast watched a good game. The fuckin colts are amazing i can defintly see now that they are going undeafted.

You see, with a talented core like we have, we're tired of the medocore playoffs, okay? We want a fucking SUPERBOWL ring, that is what it is all about right?
Due to Cowhers repeative bad playcalling and gameplans IN THE PLAYOFFS, we havent done jack shit..
Call him a great coach, what the fuck ever, the man blows every oppertunity he gets handed to him by his good team of players, sneaks out wins against shitty teams, and chokes in the playoffs...
I have every right to complain, being we havent won a Superbowl in over 20 years, and Cowher will never lead us to one, EVER, so why should I give a fuck about his overall regular season record when after the playoffs that record doesnt mean SHIT...hm? Eat it, dumb ass bitches.
The Colts played a hell of a game, very good point, however the Steelers were HOLDING THEM IN THE FIRST HALF. We had the momentum going in the second half, and Cowher blows an obvious onside kick he said he was going to do before the game. It was a stupid move, and wouldnt have been brilliant in any way, it showed that he had no faith in his defense, while the defense were holding the Colts extremely well, the onside kick was unnecessary, and his playcalling was terrible.
Not like your hater fucks have anything to say about it. I've seen 99% of all Cowhers games, believe me, this wasnt the start of it.
Why does everyone keep saying he's a great coach, during the regular season? When afterwards those records dont mean shit?
Whats his Superbowl record? How many Superbowls has he gone too? Hmm? It cant be the team, since it was his team that got him to the playoffs in the first place..it must be him in the playoffs, and it is. Time to take charge Rooney, fire his ass like you should have done years ago.

If every team that went 10 years without a Super Bowl win fired their coach on the spot, we'd be getting several hall of famers fired each year. Any coach that can go 15-1 riding on a rookie quarterback is, in my mind, amazing.
If the Broncos don't win the Super Bowl this year, are they going to fire Shanahan? I think not.

anyway, who would you replace him with? I think he's the best fit for the type of game the Steelers historically play, but i would like to see who you think could replace him.

At this point aside from Steve Spurrior I could give a fuck less who coaches this team, we KNOW theres not a shot in hell of Cowher taking us to a Superbowl...atleast theres a 1% chance with the rest of the coaches out there.
He fits it well...I agree, so why does he abandoned it in the playoffs?

i dont really know why, doesnt make sense to me either. He was probably trying to be tricky and throw the other team off, but that rarely works, especially against teams that make it to the playoffs. anyway, if they choke again and its demonstrably his fault (like bad playcalling), id agree with you about replacing him.

In Cowher’s 12 seasons, the Steelers have captured seven division titles, earned eight postseason playoff berths, advanced to four AFC Championship games and made one Super Bowl appearance. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles. He IS a good coach. You can't be mad that he doesn't go to the superbowl. That's just fucking plain stupid.

Oh, and putting 2 receivers in an obvious 3-5 wide receiver situation was the players fault?
Would you dumb fuckers get over it, WERE TIRED OF MAKING THE PLAYOFFS AND LOSING UNDER COWHER! Does that get clear to you at all? As long as Bill Cowher is the head coach of this team, we will not make another trip to the Superbowl, mark my words.

No. You know what we get tired of. We get tired of Steelers fans "bitching" about not winning a Superbowl when they go, what was it 12 and 1, with a rookie fucking quarterback. We get tired of Steelers fans bitching about not winning a Superbowl when, first of all the playoffs aren't even here yet, and second they have to best running game in the NFL with a rookie fucking runningback starting. As long as he doesnt call the offensive plays :) And best running game in the league? wrong. They average 3.9 a carry, they do have a steady running game since they run the most but 3.9 a carry cant lead the league.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was just going by some of the stuff that the announcers were saying Monday night. In any case they have a hell of a running game considering their starting, in truth, their number 3 at the beginning of the year. In any case, you people are going overboard with the "fire Cowher" bullshit. Hell, Tom Landry did win a Superbowl until his 11 or 12th year and only won 3 in 29 years of coaching with the Cowboys and I will guarantee no COwboy fans ever said he should be fired because they were not winning Superbowls. You think every play he ever called was the perfect decision?
EDIT: By the way, why isn't Ken Whisenhunt the recipient of some of this bullshit. He is the offensive coordinator afterall, he has to have something to do with the playcalls one would think.

Cowher and the rest of the Steelers organization are great at picking talent, but they fall short in one area: Discipline. It takes an unbelievable amount of discipline to do what it takes to win the Super Bowl. Talent alone will only get you so far. It's when the game is on the line and the opportunities present themselves that a true champion will emerge, and that will never be the Steelers so long as Bill Cowher is coach.
Other Steelers fans know what I'm talking about...it's that feeling of dread that seems to permeate the players and the fans whenever the Steelers get behind. It's that sense of desperation and futility that overcomes Heinz Field when the players and fans know that it's going to be just like all the other years...close, but not quite there.
I would take 25 years of 1-15 records to have one Super Bowl. Every year we make the playoffs, and every year our hearts get ripped out again and again.
Winning the Super Bowl is everything. That is all there is. Winning the Super Bowl. Cowher has won it zero times with enough talent to win it at least four.
Time for someone else to give it a whirl.
