In hopes of helping members with sense derive themselves from arguments with mindless nu-metal posers, I decided to start this thread dedicated to a very legendary (and yet very underrated) thrash band: Testament.
Favorite album? Experiences? Anything? Discuss.
I just recently got into Souls of Black. I hear that by concensus The New Order is their best album.
I saw Testament live on October 2nd. It was fuckin amazing. I've been a fan of them for years, but they never come around here for concerts. This show wasn't even adverstised or anything. It was a small club and you could only buy tickets through the venue's website or in person at the door (no ticketmaster).
Anyway, it was insane. They had their original lineup so they played nothing but old songs (classics) that they wrote together back in the day.
During the show, Chuck (lead singer) said they will definitely put out another album and tour again, probably in '06.
Highlight of the evening was when Chuck said those infamous words: "We haven't been here in a while, so why don't you show us that you still....PRACTICE....WHAT YOU.....PPREEEAAAAACHH!!!!"
I shat all over myself. 2 of my friends got on stage for some diving too. It was great.

My favorite album would have to be The Legacy closely followed by The New Order.
They came to a local (actually, half an hour away) nightclub once during the summer, but I was in North Carolina at the time. Rotten luck, huh?
I hope their new album leans more towards their earlier albums. Sounds promising.

Mmmm, I like Testament. I can't say that I've seen them live though. Bands only come to NZ every 10 years or so. And the stupid country is obsessed with hip hop/rap/rnb anyway.

wtf?
but anyway, I've only heard a few Testament songs (Trial By Fire, Souls of Black, Alone in the Dark) and I thought they were pretty decent. What album should I get to get me more into them?

In my opinion, their live album "Live At The Fillmore" has by far the best stuff. They play lots of old songs, but all of them sound better live then they did on the original albums.
Besides that, check out the albums Souls of Black, The Legacy, The New Order, Practice What You Preach, Demonic, and The Gathering. The last 2 albums I mentioned are newer then the rest and have a totally different sound then the older stuff. It's all GREAT metal, but I love listening to old stuff AND new stuff. You get a better idea of their style and talent when you hear all they have to offer (there's a lot more great stuff too, those are just my favorites).
But seriously, Live At The Fillmore is easily my favorite Testament album. The playing is flawless, every song kicks ass, and the last 3 tracks are acoustic re-recordings of a few ballads. All 3 are great and again it shows the range of talent they have, especialy the guitars.
