Im always the kid that doesnt listen to stuff that others listen to, or I'll hear it before them...before when people liked kid rock, i liked limp bizkit(or w/e), next year every1 loves limp bizkit(or w/e).
I've listened to usher since 1997, ppl are now starting to listen to him in 2003(i know its 2004). Black eyed peas, knew them in 1997 and the face that the one guy is filipino(like me), 2003, every1 loves them. And like whenevr some1 makes a great song (one hit wonder i guess you could say), im the only one that still listens to them after a year usually...

Metal (Death, Black, Thrash, Grind, Power, Prog, no Nu-Metal), Jazz, Classical, Flamenco/Spanish, Classic Rock, Indian/Middle Eastern, Celtic, Bluegrass, Blues, most ethnic musics, except Mexican, all Mexican music is dumbed down Flamenco for retards. All Mariachi is is a couple dudes with guitars, strumming Am, Dm, and E chords and shouting some gibberish in Spanish.

Whoa whoa whoa....way off man. By saying "Mexican Music" you're talking about a lot more genres than just Mariachi. You also have some awesome ethnic salsa music, some calypso, some straight up drum bands...that's some heavy shit. A lot of mexican music (outside of mariachi) is insanely complicated rhythmically.
And another thing...Am - Dm - E isn't a mariachi chord progression. Mariachi music almost ALWAYS is major and it's almost ALWAYS the same two chords (The tonic I and the dominant V). Sometimes for kicks, they'll throw in the subdominant IV for some flavor. So if you were in the key of A major, the chord progression would be "A - E7" or "A - D - E7." It's no more redundant than most modern rock. I can name about 20 songs off the top of my head which use the same 4-chord progression "vi -IV - I - V" (in the key of E that would be "C#min - A - E - B") Okay, I'm done.

I understand what you mean about Mariachi being only one form of Mexican music, but it's probably the most recognizable, and I don't like other forms of Mexican music either. As far as Salsa goes, that's South American, and from what I understand not found too much in Mexico. As for the chords, my mistake, but I'm not really into major keys, accept for Blugrass and Celtic.

Salsa is native to South America, yes (specifically Brazil.) Ethnic Salsa, however, is a derivative of Salsa found in Mexico. And I won't argue with you too much on mariachi...it's not really my favorite music, but since I'm a trombone player, I'd probably be in one just to pay the bills lol.
If you're not into major keys, you should listen to Bach's "Passacaglia and Fugue" ...that's one of the most evilly minor pieces I've heard to this day.

Hi, I'm the new guy around here.
Currently, I am very absorbed into classical music right now, with emphasis on post-Romantic composers such as Mahler and especially Rachmaninov.
Rachmaninov's piano concerto's are quite beautiful in my opinion.

I listen to almost everything I can get my hands on. Except rap and pure/ hardcore punk. I hate how the image is all that is important. I'm just sick of the stupid people that like those types of music and nothing else. It sickens me that they won't broaden their minds. I love listening to 80s bands all around. But, right now my favorite bands are journey, dashboard confessional, and dave mathews band.

Noooo sir. A large majority of what I listen to is not that. Some of it sure, but very little. Out of my top 40 artists on Launchcast, only 2 of them I would say are pop music.

Nope. Just Lillix and Tatu (and neither of which are true pop - that's stuff like Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, Hilary Duff, etc.). I won't waste your time and space on this forum to list everything.

Ough, first post. I listen to a lot of Indie, Alternative, Progressive, and Folk. Some of my favorites include Interpol, The Mars Volta, At the Drive-In, Damien Rice, and Pretty Girls Make Graves. I also listen to Bright Eyes, The Postal Service, The Walkmen, Incubus (Make Yourself and back), System of a Down (toxicity <3), Weezer, Death Cab for Cutie, The Pixies and Muse. Some oldies are really good as well...The Beatles (obviously), Jimi, The Doors, The Who, & Zeppelin.
The Cure rocks.
