Video Game Music

What is your favorite music in a video game..? I like the music in Radical Dreamers, for snes, and Chrono Cross, for PS1. They were both made by Squaresoft, and the music was done by Yasunori Mitsuda. All of the final fantasy games had wicked music too in my oppinion.

Video game music is good what what is it used for - background music in a video game. I don't think it stands out as music in its own right very well though. I'm not a big, big gamer but I think I have heard the Chrono Cross tune. It uses kind of an oboe sample if I'm not mistaken.

Having said that if I had to choose then I'd probably pick that rap tune from GTA and the ending title sequence from PoP Sands of Time.

I don't play video games at all, but I used to have this friend that was into that shit and he gave me a burnt copy of the soundtrack to this game Called "Guilty Gear X" because it's really guitar-heavy and he knew I was really into guitar. It's a pretty cool soundtrack. I wen tto go look for some info on the game to see if I could find the band(s) that contributed, and it was some weird Japanese group. I like watching my brother play video games sometimes because there's usually some good guitar paying, and excellent tone.

the gta soundtracks (all of them, even 1 and 2) are special. anyone remember "hey baby, woo , ahh YE HAY HAAAYYY kick ass!"from gta 1? haha
ffVII has a brilliant soundtrack , its kicks ass to boot
metal gear solids theme tune has an ass kicking air about it
and im gonna use the tekken 2 secret stage music for a skate vid

video games inspire music, these tunes wouldnt have existed if it wernt for they star in. I could listen to this music anytime, not just in the background of a game. Some of it stands out in my mind.

I am a huge fan of basically all of the chrono trigger music, however i am not very keen on the chrno cross. also the music in sonic 2 jams, as well as megaman 3.

Yeah FFVII has the best music in game history. especially when they get remixed and technofied

I like FF3 on GB. No 8 hour cutscenes to sit through, and combat was simple and fun.

Nobuo Uematsu (FF7, FF3, Chronotrigger, etc...) is a very great thematic composer. Probably one of the best in the video game market right now. It is very difficult to write music which portrays a certain mood/scene...you really have to know a lot about compositional structure. And for that, I'd say he gets a big thumbs up from me.

Also, the music from Secret of Evermore is very original. It uses a lot of 20th century techniques, jungle rhythms...good stuff.

I havn't really played much FF games so I don't know any of their music but to me, the music that is played while your fighting Ganon in Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time for N64 and GameCube, is the perfect music for that kind of fight.

alright the gta was a great sound track but I am going to have to go back to the basics and say legend of zelda the original, and mario bros the original. But there are alot thats for sure.
