That was pretty cool, I don't know much about meteors, but do make the sky green like that at night? Can anyone confirm if this is real? By looking at the date, that just happened recently.

Yeah that is definetly real.. I seen somthing very similar out in my front yard one night, back this last summer. It was crazy, I had no idea what it was at the time, it lit up green and burned into red then just vanished.

I have seen the same thing. I used to go to this field to look at the stars. It burned green and then broke into 2 and turned a brighter color.

Hey sweet vid as well...... and as for meteors happen more often mentioned earlier. Yeah there has seemed to be a hell of a lot more of them been captured on video... Well the world is supposed to end in december 2012... Maybe this will be the cause ?
i remember watching some retarded science video about space in like 7th grade, some lady got nailed by a meteorite the size of an small orange. she had to get surgery to get it out of her abdomen.

If she got hit with a meteorite, it wouldn't have stayed inside her, how fast are those things traveling?

Yap....that must've been scary witnessing.
Same thing here, a couple months ago we were at marching band practice and there was a flash in the sky and everyone saw it. The newspaper reported it the next day too, saying it was a meteor. Strange that this is all occurring recently...

One night a few years ago, I think 2001, a friend and I were at a church thing and we were giong out to my car. As we were walking across the parking lot, the sky lit up green and a meteor went over us. We both grabbed each other's arm cause it really surprised us, this wasn't too long after 9-11 if I remember right so are first thought was a missile or something lol.

Yeah, I actually read about that just last night. Heres the link. http://www.levity.com/eschaton/Why2012.html
And in regards to so many natural disasters, uh.... 2 words. Global Warming. Now I don't want some huge ass debate here. Just saying.
And 99.999999% of meteors disintegrate in the atmosphere before they even hit earths surface. However, they did find chucnks of Mars in the North Pole recently. Pretty cool stuff.

I saw my meteor in 2001. So it's not really all of the sudden.
that was fake did you see how big that thing was the whole truck would have been in a hole of twisted medal and the windows would have been broke!

Wow, that is one hell of a meteor. I saw many of them this last month, although none of them were this bright. It's part of the annual Leonid meteor shower that happens throughout November, so named because they appear in the sky in the general vicinity of the constellation Leo. In the early part of December, there would normally be a bright meteor shower coming from a different part of the sky, called the Quaternid, but unfortunately, the moon may wash out most of the activity.

There are hundreds of meteors every night if you look for them. Most people don't though.

Well, that's a bit of an overstatement. Meteor activity fluctuates constantly, and there are some nights of little to no observable activity. However, around November 17th each year the earth passes through the leonid meteor stream, causing increased activity. About every 33 years it strengthens to a veritable storm, and the last time that happened was in 1999.
Was pretty good this year too, though.

Yea, I think there's a few 100 tons of metiors on earth alone. I heard it in science class, but I dont ever really pay attenetion in there, so correct me if i'm wrong...

Well, a "meteor" is just the name we give to the streak of light we see when debris enters Earth's atmosphere and burns up. A piece of rock that strikes the ground is called a "meteorite," and while these are rare, about 500 baseball-sized rocks turn up every year. 79% of them turn out to be Chrondites, or small bits of matter which cooled rapidly shortly after the formation of our solar system some 4.6 billion years ago. They're largely described as being material from the "Asteroid belt," but as we saw this month, not all of them are. These meteors were from the Leonid Stream.
There are a few famous meteorites and meteorite segments that have either caused major property damage or been under close scrutiny by scientists, but "100 tons" is a huge figure. I highly doubt it, your science teacher was probably just naming a big number for the sake of being impressive.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......you lost me at atmosphere

I saw one in Vancouver last winter, would have been late 2004 I believe. I was on my cell phone with Visa and I saw it go by, it was HUGE! My jaw actually dropped involuntarily as I looked up at this thing. I almost thought I was dreaming
