OK I might sound like a douche but I accidentally uninstaled my sound card and now any sound can not be read be the comp so i can no longer hear music. I was wondering if anyone could help me i don't know the name if the card but i have a Compaq Deskpro computer with a Pentium 3 processor. Please help me because I'm losing my mind without audio.PM If you have detailed instructions
I'm assuming your running on Windows XP. Ok, what you can do to recover your driver alot faster is, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> and click on System Restore. Restore your setting to when your sound was working, and that should fix everything.

Actually I have Windows98SE and at the add/remove programs window is where i deleted it. The headphone jack doesn't even work. Any other suggestions and now the computer is treating the sound card as external hardware.

I don't know, all I know is that it says COMPAQ DESKPRO on the front with a sticker saying its designed for windows 2000 professional
-------------------------
windows NT workstation 4.0
I forgot to mention that it has internal speakers and and it's headphone/mic jack on the front
You're ganna have to find out the exact model of your computer, if you don't know ask your brother or dad. There are over 300 computers with the name "Compaq Deskpro" Their should be a number after it, like Compaq Deskpro 12A1 for example...

Umm... if you take your computer apart, and pull out the soundcard (assuming it is not onboard sound) it will say what model it is and then you can just do a google search for the driver needed to download... if it is "onboard" sound... then you could go to the compaq website and download the driver from there when searching for your model
