World Record taken because he tested positive for performance enhancers. Nobody can prove if he had them when he broke the record though. What do you think about this? Here is my slight rant:
Whether he was on steroids or not when he broke the record doesn't take away from the fact that he has the world record for the fastest 100 meter dash. He legitimately ran from the start to the finish, faster than any other man in history, therefore meaning he has the world record for the fastest time. Whether they don't allow it and take it out of the books, he still ran it faster than anyone else in history.

It doesn't matter to you whether or not he broke the record while he was on steroids or not? Come on man. What is the point of having rules on performance enhancing drugs then? The removal of previous records/titles is a deterrant to those who will take drugs for big events and not worry about penalties later. With the way they run things, there is no incentive to take these drugs, because anything you do with them will be revoked later on.
Mark McGuire had no worries about the 70 home run record being taken away, Barry Bonds has no worries about his 73 home run record being taken away. They have no worries about their salaries being taken back. If they were in track and field, those numbers would be removed and Roger Maris would still hold the record at 61 home runs.
So it's not just baseball players that take steroids, take that congress
It's not a matter of whether other sports had problems with athletes taking drugs or not, it was that baseball didn't have a serious punishment for those taking performance enhancing drugs, to the point of blatantly ignoring it so that home runs records could be broken and fans would come back to the game. While other international, specifically track and field, sports always had strict punishments. Congress wanted some sort of penalties to be defined and administered by baseball as well. That is why they were specifically targeted baseball.

Performace enhancing drugs should be allowed! Would u rather see 70 homeruns a season, or 700? :)
More excitement! Load the bitches up with drugs.

Of course it matters to me. I'm just saying, when you really think about it, he really does have the record for the fastest time. They can erase it from the books, but that doesn't change the fact that he ran the 100 meter faster than anyone in history. I'm not saying it deserves it, I'm saying it sucks that he cheated, got away with it, and now, whether it is in the books or not, has ran the 100 meter faster than any other man.
