As you may or may not know, Pat Riley bought Stan Van Gundy a fancy dinner in Malibu recently in an attempt to try to get him to stay with the team. Even more recently, he did something sort of... weird...
Riley Strains Relationship With Stan Van Gundy In Attempt To Keep Him Coaching

Late last night, Pat Riley attempted yet another way of keeping Stan in Miami.
In a very unorthodox and desperate move, Riley asked Van Gundy to marry him in a local strip bar. Van Gundy described the event as flattering, and added an offer like that was going to make his decision very difficult indeed.
"When you know a guy like Pat for as long as I have," said Van Gundy, 46, "You form a special sort of bond with him. Its not like I WOULDN'T want to marry him, but, ya know... I'm not gay. And I'm also married." He held up his wedding ring after making the statement, as if to prove his masculinity.
When questioned about his proposal, Riley seemed a bit embarrassed. "You know, the thing is, that night at the (strip) bar, I had knocked back one too many Shirley Temples. My head was sort of... spinning, you know? I just sort of got down on one knee and proposed to him. In retrospect, it was probably the wrong move. Stan got real quiet after that and kept repeating 'I just want to go home to my WIFE.' Talk about awkward."
When further questioned, Van Gundy described the incident as a 'one time mishap'. He declined to further comment on the events.
This strange event happened just a day after the two had a romantic dinner in Malibu.
"Don't call it that." Riley uttered angrily when an anonymous reporter brought this up at a recent press conference. He seemed a bit disheveled and tired. He was constantly looking down and leafing his fingers through his hair.
