Yeah morello makes me weep when i see him going at his guitar with a fucking pen and then making the coolest noises you could imagine.

As for guitarists who haven't yet been mentioned (i think) Allen Collins and Gary Rossington

Guitarists? I'm going to state the obvious and say Hendrix, because really, he's too mindblowing to not be repeated once again. A guitarist with amazing stage performance, though, would have to be [b]Carlos Dengler. Hells yeah man.

i think this needs to be clarified:

are we talking about pure favorite, or most talented/skilled?

some that are great that haven't been said:
chris impelitteri
michael angelo batio.

as for pure skill, maybe i'm uneducated or something but where do clapton, hendrix and santana fit in? tell me a good song that showcases their incredible talent.

if it's just straight up best guitarist it's gotta be ZAKK WYLDE

if we're talking carrier wise = Tony Iomma (black Sabbath) or Jimmy Page

if we're talking short lived but bad ass = S.R.V, Hendrix, and Randy Rhodes

And Ozzy Osbourne is not a guitarist.

Halford? that was a stupid ass reply. I have seen a shit load of great guitarist. I've seen G3 (well not really, i saw them all seperately) and i went to crossroads guitar festival. I can't honestly say that there is only one greatest guitarist. There are too many different things too consider. Like Joe Satriani (AKA Baldy) does crap that hendrix could never imagine doing, but respectivley i would rather listen to hendrix cause Joe can get a little too far out for me. I like Eric Clapton's versatility, but i think he's a punk. Like at Crossroads, he totally took over when Jeff Beck was playing his ONE allocated song (fuckin sucked). Props go out to Bo Diddly, Vaugn Bros, and Yngwie (even though he's is a huge ass hole).
