Wow! What a change of events in Tony's life! I feel bad for him. Such an awesome year, ending with such a tragedy.

The Associated Press

LUTZ, Fla. (AP) — The 18-year-old son of Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy was found dead in his apartment Thursday morning, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

James A. Dungy's girlfriend called the sheriff's office at 1:32 a.m. after finding him in the apartment, said Vida Morgan, a secretary in the sheriff's public information office. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No foul play is suspected, but a cause of death won't announced pending an autopsy, Morgan said.

Lutz is in the Tampa Bay area, where Tony Dungy previously was coach of the Buccaneers.

Oh God, that has to be to painful to imagine. Its hard to lose a loved one especially so young and i can only hope he can work through this and hopefully the colts will respond.

So? I'm a jackass because I hope they can keep going on with their best season of their careers? We're all sad that his son died. And now because I hope they can keep moving on with their best season of their careers, I'm a douche? Don't act like you never once thought about their season. We know what Tony's priorities are now, and what they have been. (his family, his god, then football) Fuck you man. You're always bitching to me.

Anyways, this was a pretty tragic year in Football. Parcell's brother died, I know Bellichick lost someone too. I think it was either his brother or his father... The Giants lost Wellington Mara and Robert Patrick Tisch. The Saints lost their stadium and whole town. And now this.

But if this was a suicide, I wonder why he would do it. I don't know anything about his personal life, but you'd think he'd be real happy. Especially since Dungy's really close to his family. I remember hearing on ESPN one day that Tony threatened to forfeit a game because teh Ref's tried to make his son leave the sidelines.

Probably since they said there was no foul play...this sucks though...he was probably one of those kids who seemed so happy on the outside but was really depressed on the inside and just couldnt take it anymore. Maybe b/c his dad wasn't ever around or something like that, and he didn't think he loved him or something...

And whoever said that he might quit coaching, I would agree with that...maybe just for a year, but spending time with his family is probably more important than anything right now (and if it's not, it should be)

tony has this huge foundation that tells people that u should always make time for your kids. i dont think that was the problem.

If I were him i would skip this up coming game and get over it after that. I wouldn't feel as sad because I figure he is going to a better place. Call me crazy but I have strong beliefs for the after life.

I was watching espn and they said something about him overdosing before and that he might have done it again. I wasnt paying much attention but i heard that he overdosed before if that helps.

Yeah, Tony's kids were at his games a lot.

That's totally inappropriate.

I don't think you can just "get over it after that". It's his son, and it's not like it's a lost game where you can just practice again next week and go out hoping to play better. It's going to take some time for Dungy to get over it, but I think he'll return to coaching. He owes it to his players to return and finish what they started together, but I don't think his players are going to judge him if he doesn't show up for the remainder of this season.

Think their season is last thing he has to worry about right now. Peyton knows the offense well enough to make the right calls when theyre needed. I wont be surprised if he isnt present for the Seattle game.

I hear he is in Tampa with his family and not with the Colts at the moment.

I can't believe he's already back, it's only been a week. I guess you can't put your life on hold, but it's only been a week, which makes you think if Tony really was in his life.

Eh, I wouldn't go that far. Dungy's always been known for being a role model and a good father figure. True, his son had a different side that Tony probably didn't know about, but a lot of parents can be out of the loop with their kdis. I think coming back is the right decision for him. It'll give him a chance to focus on the playoffs, and temporarily distract him from thinking about his son. I know it won't be able to take away the pain or anything, but it should do him some good.
