Are anyone here any good at screaming? I'm trying to learn it myself, it's not easy... I can get a sort of devilish whispering like scream, but it's kind of low, I'm working on getting it higher... The ideal screaming would be like the vocalist in Emperor, you know, that sort of raspy, hoarse voice, it's extremely cool! Can anyone here do it? Growling is cool as well.

No, but how come you could spell "Emperor" correctly in your post, but not in your screen name?

I thought that someone would already have taken that name when I registered, so I wrote it with an E insteadl

It depends on the amount of screaming and the different tones...Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir = same pitch of scream = suck ass
Black Dahlia Murder = multiple screams in one song = awesome!

Listen to The Fall of Troy. They switch from screaming to normal voices. Amazing guitar skills also.

screaming... growling... wtf happened to "singing"?
growling... is that the shit that sounds like cookie monster got a hold of the mic for some metal band and you can't understand a fuckin thing? That music licks balls
If by screaming you mean Rob Halford and Judas Priest, then sweet. But if you mean shit like Atreyu, then GAY

Growling can be very good when it's in the right places. And I do like Rob Halford's screaming indeed  .

Cool, another Extol fan! :D I agree, Peter is awesome, one of my favorite singers. He can do growling, black metal screaming, "thrash" screaminging and clean vocals! Their drummer (which is his cousin) is kickass ass well, Mike Portnoy has actually been inspired by him.

I've been preaching Extol's awesomeness on this forum ever since I joined. They're going to be rich and famous someday.

They're already famous! ;) Rich, I don't know... It's a relative term, it's not easy to be a millionare from making music unless you're a pop band like Linkin Park and other sellouts, which they will never be. :)

Heh, they're not famous AT ALL. At least not in the states. With fame comes riches. ;) And you don't have to sell out at all to gain virtue, you just have to hope that there's something that makes your band stand out from the other bands, and Extol does a great job at doing that. Unfortunately, their band goes unnoticed.
Waste of talent.

I'd say they are pretty famous, most people I know listening to metal have heard of them, I've heard they're big in the US as well... After all, they've sold quite a few albums, over 300.000 I think I read somewhere.. Correct me if I'm wrong... But I'd definately call them famous compared to most other bands . :)

The point I'm trying to make is that they're not famous enough, for their level of sheer awesomeness.
Ouch...

Haha. We can't all go around calling eachother fags and douchebags, can we? I prefer an extent of intellect.

By the way, here's some of the guys in Extol's old band Ganglion, if you want to hear some samples. They only recorded a demo though, but one of their songs (Essence) has reappeared on the Blueprint album:
