I know you guys closed that thread, but I would just like to point out that BitTorrent, despite the fact that it is often used for illegal activities, is not in and of itself illegal. BitTorrent is a peer to peer distribution model that greatly streamlines data distribution, cutting down on utilization of precious network resources.

I am sick of hearing anything peer to peer being automatically associated with something illegal. It is the pirates themselves, not the network, that are to blame. People use networks like BitTorrent for other things too, you know. (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLR,GGLR:2006-03,GGLR:en&q=linux+trackers)

You are correct. Bit Torrent is 100% legal, but at the same time can be used for illegal things as well. It's like a knife, it can help prepare a dinner for your family and at the same time, be the weapon of choice to murder those same family members. Caveman was probably being extra precautious and that is to protect the site and forum. In essence, the thread starter was asking how to sharpen his knife, but we don't know what he was going to use it for.

Yep....we dont need to have any illegal things going on this forum. And if a member has questions about BitTorrent, you should use google.
