I know you guys closed that thread, but I would just like to point out that BitTorrent, despite the fact that it is often used for illegal activities, is not in and of itself illegal. BitTorrent is a peer to peer distribution model that greatly streamlines data distribution, cutting down on utilization of precious network resources.
I am sick of hearing anything peer to peer being automatically associated with something illegal. It is the pirates themselves, not the network, that are to blame.
