This is inspired by the "Who are your top 5 QBs of all time?" thread.
I compiled a list of commonly mentioned quaterbacks from that thread and thought we'd have a competition to see who this forum thinks is the greatest of all time.
Here's how it works:
There will be 4 rounds.
In the first round will last until friday and you will vote for who you think the top 5 QBs are. I will then narrow the field to the 5 QBs that have the most votes.
In round 2 you will vote for who out of those 5 you think is the worst and after on Monday, Feb. 20 I will eliminate the QB with the most votes and start the next round with the 4 remaining QBs.
Round 3 will be just like round 2 and will end on Wednesday, Feb 22 where the field will be narrowed to 3.
In round 4 there will be 3 QBs left and you will vote for who you think is the best. On Monday, Feb 27 the voting will be closed and the QB with the most votes will be hailed as the ebaum's world forum's choice for best QB of all time.
So, let round 1 begin...
ROUND 1
Vote for the 5 quaterbacks that you think are the best.

I went with Favre, Marino, Montana, Starr, and Unitas...
Also, if Elway advances over any of those 5, it would be a travesty.

Whys that? Elway 2 rings>Favre 1,Marino 0
Elway most wins as a qb, and hes in the top 3 in alot of great categories.
Do you even watch football? Or are you just a homer?

Because all 5 of those QB's played for the Steelers....:dunce:
Right...rings, that determines it..Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer 1 Ring, Marino 0...your point?
Elway is for SURE not top 3 in "a lot of great categories"..
So because I say Elway doesnt deserve to advance means I dont watch football, thats a great statement to make when you've never seen any of my other comments...then again you are a douchecake so it doesnt matter.
Talk about not knowing football, you rank Steve Young the top 5 best QBs of all time...and then rank him over Bart Starr and Johnny Unitas....enough said, leave.

I voted for Elway over Unitas because, even though Elway sold his soul to complete that drive and beat my Browns back in '87, Unitas came from the University of Louisville, so he is obviously demon spawn himself.

I just picked Montanna and Marino because when I count down the last 4-5 I can't choose between a couple...so I just picked Montanna and Dan because they're the best imo.

Atreyu shut up Elway is not only in the top5 but he is also very much deserving of a top 3 postion.

Feed me all the stats you want, Unitas and Starr were both overall better quarterbacks than John Elway...put them in Elways time frame and you'd be saying the exact same thing.
It's a shame Bart Starr wont advance in this thread because of flammering jackasses...hell the people that voted for Young probably never heard of him, and so on.

Your a complete Moron, they played in two different time frames. Its the way it is, theres no such things as what if's. If Jeff George played in the 30's youd be saying hes the best all time. See what I'm saying, makes no sense.

I'm a moron? Atleast I know "moron" isnt capitalized, but if you wanted to be enthusiastic about it you could have capitalized the entire word, but whatever...you still voted for Steve Young over Unitas and Starr so theres no need to persue this argument..

And I bet atleast 90% of those 14 people never heard of Bart Starr or seen him play, looks like reality has spoken...public votes also put George Bush in the whitehouse, what is your point?
I also like the fact how you called me a homer, whenever your the one with Bailey in your profile.....Donk fan I presume, looks like you just took the role of being a homer, and a hypocrit....and Bailey is not the best cornerback in the league, put him up against competition and he cant do shit, name 1 better? Chris McAlister, about the only real shutdown corner there is the NFL.

Hell, Lito Shepard is a better corner than Bailey, He's overrated. The redskins knew what kind of talent was in Bailey, which was nothing, which is why they traded his ass for Portis. Plus there's no need to start showing stats, those stats are unfair to compare with in today's game. Back then they played 13 games, rather than the 16 they play today, so ofcourse you would expect Marino or Elway to have more passing yards in their career, But Star, Unitas, Bradshaw were some bad mother fuckers. If you add an extra 3 games a year that they played in untill they retired, they would have more passing yards, Passing Attempts, TD's.

And you know this how? Unitas didn't play against the 6'4 250lb linebackers Elway did. He also didn't play against the near 300 pound defensive lineman Elway did. Also, the players today are faster and prepare better for the games. If you gave Elway and Unitas the same players and put them against the same defense, there is no substantial evidence that one would out perform the other. The only way you can say Unitas would be better than Elway would be your opinion and that is the weakest argument you can have. Until you give evidence that Unitas would be a better QB if he played right now, (in his prime) your post has as much credibility as a 2 year old's with cancer.
For the record my top 5 was Marino, Elway, Montana, Unitas, Starr. (INPO)

Its an interesting topic, but you would also look at the WRs being better, OL being better, and everything being better. Also, if you think that way, dont count many players before 1980.
Starr was nice, worthy of HOF, but look at the numbers and look at how much time they each had to operate under. In 7 seasons, Young did what only few could dream of in their entire careers. Also Sammy Baugh should get some recognition but im not going to make something out of it.
Also, Chump Bailey is a good CB, but I would not say the best. If he was, the skins CB would be devastated, they werent. You could make arguments for guys like Bob Sanders, Rodney Harrison, and plenty of other guys.

Bob Sanders is average, and always was average...Harrison was the shit in his prime, not worth a shit anymore.

If there is a tie for the 5th place spot then there will be six QBs in the next round. There will then be an extra round of voting out the worst QB.
For example, round 2 will have 6 QBs, round 3 will have 5, round 4 will have 4 QBs, and round 5 will be the final round with 3 QBs and we'll vote for the best out of those three.
