Anyone watching USA and Latvia right now? It's a very good game. Brian Gionta just scored a goal, 1-0 USA! Go USA! Edit: Another goal by Craig Conway 2-0 USA.

Cmon they can't lose to Latvia! I keep thinking there are 19 minutes left because they clock goes the other way. LOL game ends tied at 3-3.

pretty pathetic that USA ties Latvia...doesn't set up a too promising ending for them....Slovokia beat Russia which was sort of an upset too...the czech game against germany was pretty good...hasek pulled his groin though.

Not really since all of the Latvian players play and live in Europe. The time difference form Turin and Riga where most of them play is like 2 hours.

But anyways, I wasn't really suprised that the Slovaks won, their program has been building up quite nicely the last couple of years. Bad luck for the Czechs too, but still, Voukun is a sick goalie.

Silver: Sweden (When they still had Naslund and Forsberg) but i stick by it
Bronze: Russia (Ovechkin and Malkin reunited)

Sweden's playing USA today. Hope you all gonna watch that game, it will surely rock. Or it maybe a little early for you to watch this one. Anyway, i'm hoping for Sweden to win this one. They kicked Latvias ass yesterday and hopefully they'll play as good today.
I'm sure Canada's gonna win gold followed by Sweden. I'm not sure about the bronze tho. Maybe Finland?

I live in Canada, and I really hope they don't get a medal. Some of the ppl they picked were just crazy, the idea of bringing back who won last time was just stupid. Just pick the current best. This is why Canada is sucking.

Canada is doing bad, being a Canadian I think that Wyane Grezgey (spelling..whatever) needs to stop filming commercials for Ford and McDonnalds and start focusing on this team :-)

No he couldn't, there was a 2 year window which he could've filed a lawsuit and the day he did was the day it expired.

Now the whole country of Canada knows what Leaf fans know ,that Pat Quin is a bad coach. Well maybe not bad but certainly the laziest coach in the NHL.
This is a man who didn't believe practicing the power play was of any value.
I remeber when he was GM/Coach and an important contract dispute was going on in the off season. The only person at the Leafs who could be could contacted about the matter was Bill Waters because Quin was out of country on vacation. I'm like,your the GM AND coach you don't take a holiday you lazy fucking bastard.
Gretzky should fire Pat Quinn and let Ken Hitchcock take over.

That really wasn't the biggest problem. The problem was Gretzky and co, and who they picked. Now c'mon, it was just stupid. Shane doan/Rick Nash over Spezza, Crosby, Staal? McCabe over Phaneuf? Just plain stupid. The Russians won because of a) their goaltending which I think surprised a lot of ppl and b) There YOUNG guys, something Canada didn't have.

After the Swedes killed the Czech republic, which I think was like 7-3, I kinda figured that they would be the team to beat. Well, that was a great game, and Sweden was obviously the best team this year.

I didn't think Lundqvist was at his best in the gold medal game. He made some big stops but he also gave out some rebounds that you wouldn't expect from an NHL goalie. The final is the first game I have watched at home, since I was in Canada for the first week. In England, it seems to be a pre-requisite that the commentators know squat about the game.
Good game though.

Oh man, Lundqvist... He's a hero. But we shouldn't forget about Forsberg, Sundin, Axelsson, Lidström, Alfredsson, the Jönssons and the Sedins. This was just an amazing and great victory.

hey mr jack - is the whole country going crazy with the hockey stuff or what? i heard that the women's team was also welcomed back like heros after they beat the us in the shootout going into the gold medal game. though they lost to canada, i think you guys kicked some butt this yr in torino! congrats!

The whole country was going crazy with all of the olympics, since this is the best swedish olympics ever. We've never taken so many medals before, and especially not that many golds.
About the womens hockey silver, it was a really big thing that they even made it to the finals so they were happy either way.
I think we kicked ass too. :) Thanks!

sweet - that's awesome. you guys really deserved it. isn't your womens hockey team goalie only like 18 or 19 or something and played in the last olympics too when she was just 15? that's just crazy. i can't really recall myself doing anything at that age that equates to being on the olympic team haha...

She's 19 now, yes. And yes she played in the last olympics too at the young age of 15. She's gonna go far, she is, the little youngster.
