Yeah, I know, it was fiction, they were actors, etc, etc. But I guarantee that everyone on this board knew some mega geeks like that in school. Hell, I bet half the population of this board is like that now. You cannot possibly get nerdier than playing gay ass role playing games like that. I've been into Sci-Fi movies since I was kid, I know the Star Wars movies front to back, but the difference is people on the street don't know that by looking at me. I'm torn between pity and disgust for the eternal virgin dorks.

Not all guys who role-play are that extreme. I don’t find it worse than guys who get together with their computers to play Quake or other RTS games. I don’t think it’s so much different than guys who get together to play sports with their favorite team jerseys on. It is all an escape from reality for a bit. We all need an escape from reality once in awhile. It’s just their way of doing it. I think people who are ashamed of what they do because of what others might think of them is the real pity.

Hey, man, far be it from me to tell you what you can and can't enjoy. The point is, it's not about what you play, it's about how you act when you are NOT playing. I play Americas Army all the time, but you don't see me walking down the street yelling, "HOOAH!" "GET THE DOOR!" "CHECK YOUR FLANKS!", and various other phrases, mainly because I don't want to look like a dork. It's when the fantasy world starts to overlap and in some cases take over the real world (as in this video) that it becomes disturbing. And yes, like I said, I know the video is fiction, but there ARE people like this.

As long as you don't dress up like your character and do "interactive roleplaying" or whatever he said, then it's cool. WoW is just like any other game, except it's online, and what's so bad about games?

well there is a diffrence with things like role playing you pretend to be dunrog the barbarian cut off head guy from malvania and with sports you are just youreslf but playing sports

Actually, people make fun of costumes way too much, too. I dressed up as Anakin for Star Wars Episode III (I was with a group that all went in costumes) and I had a lot of fun. Wearing costumes to events is more fun than you'd think, it's like having a themed halloween.

Not that I'd make costumes just to wear around the house though... or to pretend to be who I'm dressed up as. That's just creepy.

WTF. yes true there are people like this however I play D&D and I have a job, and a girl, and I have damn near straight A's in college at devry. My job has a very high intensity environment so I am pretty fit. I take care of my life people like these fags don't.

and other people who don't understand the game, im sure you don't need to because you do not want to be able to cast spells and kill things. as far as im concerned when it comes to D&D it's like actually being able to do things you cannot do in this world.

Being ashamed of what you enjoy and making sure that nobody can tell it by looking at you VS people who don't give a shit about what people think of them and can go day by day not caring about what's nerdy and what isn't.
