Turning left is not a sport.

How is that different from running back & forth on a field or court?

Shoulder pads, knee pads, helmets... what wimps.

Drivers need whole cages built around them. Their helmets need to be anchored. Their bodies need to be strapped into a custom made seat.

Even the fans need protection with special reinforced fences. Cars need to have parts tethered so they don't kill someone in the stands.

Not to mention, where is the stress level in any ball game?

At 200 MPH and ¼ inch to play with on each side, turning left needs more precision than a fighter pilot and more trust in your competitor than a 20 year marriage can bring.

Please, if they don't wear fireproof suits, they're just playing with their balls.

I'm sorry. I thought your point was that driving in circles wasn't work. My bad.

BTW, it was five years ago today that Dale Earnhardt died because he didn't turn left enough.

Actually, according to a poll in Sports Illustrated last year, the majority of NASCAR viewers make $40K+ yearly, and you should've seen how many were making $60K+.

It's only considered a "Redneck Sport", because people assume that rednecks are the only people interested in domestic cars, which isn't true, by any means.

They sure are, and it should be interesting. Toyota actually just entered into the truck racing.

All the rednecks go for are the crashes. What a sport where all you do is turn left, and occasionally crash your car to keep the cheap-beer swilling assholes entertained.

How is that different from running back & forth on a field or court?

Because running takes physical conditioning and endurance. Thats like asking "how is Nascar different from playing video games?".

Shoulder pads, knee pads, helmets... what wimps.

All the pads only do so much. Getting hit by a 250 pound linebacker hurts no matter what.

Not to mention, where is the stress level in any ball game?

Have you ever been on the free throw line, your team down one, with 0.1 seconds left on the clock?
