That's alittle extreme and unneccesary to beat up on iraqi kids, but I'll just add that does not compare to the tyranny under Saddam Hussein. Saddam has killed many more of his own citizens than this war has. HALABJA,This is the town where Saddam murdered 5,000 Kurdish civilians in a matter of hours on March 16, 1988, when his military sprayed and shelled them with VX, sarin and mustard gas. In total Saddam's troops had slaughtered more than 100,000 Iraqi Kurds and razed 4,500 Kurdish villages in the 1980s. Also reports come in that since the invasion of iraq 270 sites of mass graves have been reported. These contain an unknown number of Iraqis, Iranian prisoners of war, Iraqi Kurds and Kuwaiti prisoners among the long list of those Saddam tortured and killed.
Now I'm definetly not supporting these british troops because by the looks of it, it was wrong to do, but I could be wrong since the investigation is still underway, but if they are found guilty I hope they are punished.
But please don't come here and say that the iraqi's were better off before the war.

the first line of my post says it was unneccesary and I later said I hope they are punished. I'm just saying they're making a bigger deal about this than the 270 mass graves they've found since the start of the war.

I joined just to post in this topic... Whether the kids deserved it or not, soldiers of the "free civilised western world" should not be behaving like this. They are setting a bad example for future generations and aside from that what they did is illegal... The kids they took into the compund should have been locked up in jail or something, not brutally beaten like that.
Maybe a few slaps across the face sure wouldn't have been bad, but i saw one soldier kick one of them in the balls which is absolutely uncalled for. British soldiers should not be acting like this. I'm British and i have to say i'm absolutely ashamed. First we go to war because Bush is a skineyed little twat warmonger, then our soldiers commit crimes such as what is seen in this video.
So some of you may be thinking, they are over there risking their lives for the 'freedom' of these people, they are in a foreign country they want to be home with their families... When one joins the army does he expect to sit in a nice cosy barracks doing training exercises all week? It is their job to be risking their lives... It is not their place to do what they did in the video. Hopefully they will lose their jobs and their future war pension for these acts.

As I said before, there was a discussion going on about this video, but zee Germans locked it, which is really a shame. They also deleted my post saying the exact same thing, but I have no idea why.

I agree with most of what you said, except the bush bashing, but thats besides the point. I'm not british, but they should not have beaten the crap out of those kids. those kids may be dumbass cowards who threw rocks at The Brit soldiers, but that does not excuse this brutality

It all comes with the job... The kids were throwing rocks at them... It could have been bullets... And the guy holding the camera i really believe needs to seek some mental help if this is the kind of thing he enjoys. Truly ashamed.

I was soooo with you until this point.
Brits went to war because of Bush? Are you telling me Bush runs your country too? Weird...
I'm curious as well... what was Saddam? A good guy?

I'm sorry i meant no offense to any Americans with my comments about Bush... I'm not really even a Bush basher, but it's mostly his fault that America and Britain went to war with Iraq in the first place... The war is won now but the violence will never stop. British and American soldiers will have to stay in Iraq for, probably, the next 50 years, and as long as they are there the Iraqi people will be angry, bombs will go off and people will die needlessly. The recent cartoon thing just adds fuel to the fire as Iraq is already on the brink of a civil war... Saddam wasn't the good guy, but neither is Bush or Blair... It could all have been avoided by not going to war in the first place.
The middle east will always be unstable because the religion there is extreme and requires people to make others' lives miserable so they can go to ALLAH... The invasion of Iraq just made it even more unstable.

maybe in the short term, but the long term effects of democracy will probably outweigh all of this.

Long term, huh? Well, I know I won't be around anymore in 60 years, so I really wouldn't give a fuck about the long term effects of some fuckers invading my country.

we as a country i hate to say it are to ignorant. we are so wrapped up in everyone elses buissness we forget about our selves. we have infomercials about starving children in 3rd world countries yet the homeless here are ignored.we would rather pay for food and send raw money to these people and soon as they get it their government steals it. so we give their government a chance to give them the food what happens the shoot at us. we respond with war. instead we could just go out into out front yards and give the homeless money no harm done.

Look at every country in the world and you'll see that they've commited pretty bad atrocities during wartime. Of course this doesn't excuse what I've seen in that video.
Just to clear things up... most people in the UK didn't want to go into Iraq. Unfortunately this was decided for us by our dumbass prime minister. Although the U.S dont "control" the UK, they certainly seem to control Tony Blair. And please, Blair isn't a hero, he's a liar and the reason 103 British soldiers have died since the invasion of Iraq. The war itself makes a mockery of "democracy" when 90% of the population wanted to avoid war.
But enough about politics, it makes me sick. There are a few important things to mention. Firstly, the guy talking on that camera is messed in the head. Also, war has a habit of bringing out the worst in people - something that is shown by both sides. I definately think that those shown in this video should be punished accordingly, but the newspapers and media around the world have sold the British army out in exposing this video.
The video should only have been used in a trial against the soldiers, and not shown to the entire world. In doing so, the media has exposed all the British (and American) soldiers to increased danger and tension in Iraq. Whoever published this crap was purely thinking of money and not the safety of our troops. If you were an Iraqi watching that video, wouldn't it make you angry? Wouldn't it make you want to take it out on the first coalition soldier you saw?
Really, a small percentage of the population is messed up, so obviously some of those are going to end up in the army, but what about the soldiers that don't like violence, didn't want war and have families back home - this video has put all of the "good" soldiers at risk.
As far as I'm concerned the Iraq war is comparable to Vietnam in so much as its not a "popular" war. Most people (including some of those fighting in it) never wanted it. And to all the Americans who think the UK is just some small insignificant region, you should remember that we're one of your ONLY allies in this unpopular war, regardless of what you might think. The so-called terror attacks on London last year came as a result of this support.
For as long as we (and the US) are in Iraq, I will support our soldiers out there, but I will not support the war, and I will not support the government.
