Yee, so i bought an n64 and a couple of games off of a buddy today for 10 bucks. I bought it because for some reason I had a craving for all of the old games (Banjo kazzooie, mario kart, diddy kong racing, donkey kong, mario 64, mario party, goldeneye etc.) So I got a couple of questions and this is the only forum I am a member to, so to save me some time from joining a faggotish gaming one Ill just ask you guys. PIMP Questions:

1)My buddy that gave me the n64 didnt have the game donkey kong, and I remembered it came with a certain thing that you had to put into the n64. I think I have it in my old n64 (which doesnt work), but I dont know what it is/how to get it out and etc. So what does it do, and should I even bother going to get it out?

2)Half of the games either dont turn on, or freeze. I'm not sure why this is getting in the way of the mario party fun..but it is. We've tried blowing in them, and tried just about every way possible to put it in, but it doesnt work. Now some games work perfectly fine. So I'm wondering is there something I can buy that will help make all the games turn on and not freeze?

3) Does anyone know if you can still buy these games/how cheap they would be? I dont want to do all this garbage online because I have a fear of ebay, and I dont wanna sign up for any shit. We tried an EBgames and they didnt have any. So I'm wondering is there another possible place that might have them, or just try another EBgames?

Also share some fucken experiences! Admit it or not, n64 was the funnest thing ever. Every single time we play its funny as shit.

you're looking for the n64 expansion pack, it's basically more ram.

just search "n64 expansion pack" on ebay and I'm sure you'll find some for pretty cheap.

And I'm actually not a big fan of the 64, I think snes was better with games like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, etc.

Try microplay if you have one. Or a small gaming store, they usually have sweet shit like that.

Thanks man, but stupid question... Is RAM just more memory or does it make the games graphics better and less choppy? Also I found my broken n64 and noticed that the two flaps on the front have different insides. I'm pretty sure thats what I need to replace. But my newer n64(without the "expansion pack") has a sticker saying not to remove something right on the flap. Open that shit up and see what happens, or no cause I'll fuck something up?

Ok, I have the DK game and like the person above said it add more ram. You need it to play donkey kong. Also you mentioned buying games. Most of the N64 games are very cheap and can be bought at a gamestop, funcoland, (basically all of the the stores that sell reused games), but some games like starcraft 64 are very hard to come by and cost a lot!! I was trying to buy it a while ago, but the price for it was crazy. (More than an xbox 360 game!)Yah, so some games cost to play while most of the others are cheap. Don't expect to get to much money if you want to sell them either.

Alright thanks for the help guys. More memory is all it does right, not graphics?
Also I do have a microplay near by, so I'll be hitting that up tomorrow. Also thanks to the guy that just reminded me of conkers fur day:) Man running around with those teddy bears was fucking nuts!

It's just like ram for your computer, it'll make games run "better" it won't improve the graphics but it should make games less choppy. And yeah, you remove the thing that says "don't remove" assuming we're both thinking of the same thing - located on the top from of the console.

You must not've looked very hard for starcraft 64 because on ebay they have about 6789796124809 copies ranging from $5-$30, which in my estimation is a cheaper than an xBox 360 games.

Never blow in the games, it only makes it worse. Dust is not your problem it is corrosion and dirt, blowing air will not help that and the moisture from your breath causes corrosion.

Take some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and clean the contacts. I have a large video game collection with over 500 cartridges from the Atari 2600 to the N64 and I have only come across 5 cartriges that didn't work after cleaning.

You may also have to clean the connector inside the system, I ususally take a piece of 400grit sandpaper and a wooden shim and gently sand the corrosion off of the contacts.

Oh man, I remember I was playing that game when it first came out and I had almost beaten it. One night I was playing it with my brother, we were alternating turns and he had the genius idea of trying to do a code. So on screen where you choose what game file to load he started pushing a lot of random button and accidently deleted our game and we had to start over from the beginning. I was so pissed!

Buck Bumble
Pilot wings
Conkers fur day
A working mario party (funnest game ever made, not lying...I dont care if you say Im 5)
And probably a few other ones.

We already have
Mario64 (In our opinion, best game ever made, there is no arguing it)
Mario Kart (Fun as fuck)
Diddy kong racing(Sawweeet)
Star Fox (doesnt work)
Mario party 2 (doesnt work)
Goldeneye (Proxy mines are honestly the best thing since sliced bread)
and NFL Blitz (yeee yeee)

Peace chiggss, be back in a bit.

NOTE: Those bashing the n64 and calling it shit and not as fun as ps1, have openly admitted to having a maximum of 1 friend and bad taste in fun. Thank you. ;)

The N64 was golden in the true days of gaming. Now-a-days too much emphasis is put on graphics. I remember the blocky textures of Goldeneye, but it didn't matter. I have probably spent an entire month's worth of time on the multiplayer alone. I also remember spilling countless hours to beat all of the difficulty levels to unlock the temple and that other level. BTW, Oddjob rules all in multiplayer. I played the hell out of Diddy Kong Racing as well. It was such a good game that, even though I suck at racing, I played just to fly the fricking plane. Banjo was my boy on that game. Then, of course, there is Bomberman 64. I played that over and over again to get all of the gold cards. Yet again, another game with priceless multiplayer.

I have one thing to say. Thanks for reminding me about how gaming has gone downhill.

I actually think N64 was the first step downhill is the direction of placing more emphasis on graphics than gameplay. SNES had the best games by far.
