i just found out that roman polaski won best director even though he will be imprisoned if he comes back to the states...
polaski was convicted for raping a 13 year old girl and he fled the country before he had to serve any time...should he be allowed to "win" anything from us? i would set up an ambush for him when he would come for the oscar...

that should not be the mothers decision...
that power should lie with in the state. just because the DUMBASS mother thinks its ok for a 40 year old (i'm guessing his age) to rape her 13 year old daughter does not mean that he should be freed of all charges. if that were the case then we would have rich criminals paying off their crimes before they go to court.....what a fucking world that would be, wait a minute...wheres O.J.???

It makes my blood boil to think that these child rapists escape justice, even though i'm usually a "try and reform them" kind of guy, but child rapists deserve everything they get.

It's not actual rape, it's consensual rape. I'm not sure what kind of penalties it carries in the States, but I think it's lesser here in Canada. I don't know for certain though, I've never had reason to know.

Consensual rape can be avoided in many american states with what's known as a Romeo and Juliet clause (I think it's a clause). Basically it allows for a years difference in age to not count in consensual rape cases.

As for Roman Polanski that was pretty messed up. But then again, how normal could you possibly be if Charlie Manson's family broke into your house while you were away and killed your wife, unborn child and some of your friends?

yeah lets not forget that Polanski had his wife cut open and his unborn Baby nailed to a wall all because he lived in a house that used to belong to a beach boy. and all this happened just under a year befor. i mean if you watch his rendition of Macbeth it shows the kind of mental state he was in after his wifes murder.

besides he deserved the oscar for The Piano. that was a great film that was very well done by him.
