Would you like to see the Football in the Olympics? Team USA Football vs Other Countries?

No, it won't happen either. American football doesn't have anywhere near the popularity that European football does. Very few countries play it professionally, other than the US. There'd be no incentive for the Olympic committee to bring it into the summer games.

Not only is it unpopular outside of the US, but nobody would take it seriously. NFL players wouldn't want to risk getting hurt, so it would end up looking like the probowl.

Team USA vs who?

I say yes, just because I want to incorporate football into everything. Even church.

Team USA vs who?Precisely. The only reason to add it to the olympics would be to boost the egos of Americans. It might get a bit of exposure, but most countries would only show events that they care about, maybe including the gold medal game for football, but not any others.

Not saying I want to boost my ego. I just really really love football. I almost like soccer as much, but I guess it'd be stupid to try and get that in the Olympics now, huh?

It would be really stupid. Just another easy gold medal for the US.

Loving football is fine, I enjoy watching the occasional game. However, I would rather watch a game between two even teams instead of watching the USA wipe the floor with contries with, perhaps, five pro players. Like watching women's hockey. I love hockey, but there's no enjoyment in watching Canada win 15 - 0 again and again.
Soccer is different, since I can probably name 5-10 nations in which soccer is the number 1 sport in the country, and a further 10 where it has a strong national program. Soccer in the olympics isn't a foregone conclusion, football would be.

Do you guys have a Team USA? If so, what other countries compete.
If American football was as popular as our Football I dont see why it shouldnt be included. Even though you guys would dominate it.
But, I still vote no.

Whoa out of all the offensive lines you could choose you chose the Steelers? Steelers offensive line is vastly overrated with the run (Except Faneca of course)...decent pass blocking but NOTHING compared to the Chiefs.

We would dominate, yes. But we fucking kick ass in basketball too except for the last olympics embarassment. They can learn to play football damn it. Just learn. The only thing is like someone said soem people might be afraid to get hurt...

there's no way, I mean, the olympic team sports are tournament based, so think about it. Even if there were only like 8 teams it would take a month for a single elimination tourney (olympics lasts just over 2 weeks), given you stick to the one game a week schedule, and when has football ever broken that? And yeah, like previously stated, it's a very American sport. Hell, you killed the validity of your question when you ask "Should the NFL be in the Olympics?" The NFL...what the fuck are you talking about? ;) The NFL is a football league. Are you proposing the NFL playoffs be decided in the Olympics? Just kidding there but that would be like someone from the UK asking...."Should Premier League be in the Olympics?" You're making us Yanks look bad dog!!!!

Difference between football and basketball: Even though other nations may not be up with the US at basketball, they still play. Every sports hall I have ever been in has at least one basketball court, most have more. The way to make other countries accept football as a sport which can be accepted nationally is not to put NFL players out against Steve the postman and then completely rape his ass. If you want football to be an olympic sport, start promoting it more in other countries, and work up from there.

lol...get an offensive line to try and stand up against Dwight Freeney and Julius Peppers...That'd be awesome...

Yes, its funny that we dominate every Olympics. In the last summer olympics the US had more gold medals than most countries had medals, period.

there is no reason for there to be football in the summer olympics. not many other countries play foot ball professionaly and the US would kil everyone

I came across this just now. Even with the US not competing the same two teams dominate so there wouldn't even be an exciting battle for second place.

at least 8 nations would have to be playing at a high level for it to even be considered as an outside possibility.
not a sport that is only played by one country .

college football players will fit in perfect for the olympics.
Germany is starting to like our Football in the last few years, maybe they have some citizens willing to play it, i dunno.
Meixco loves football, but Mexicans from Mexico playing football?
Canadians has strongest chance of them being involved.
I voted yes, maybe the Olympics will be fun to watch if they bring football into it.
