Many people I've talked to over the internet think that eBaum forum members are heartless and arrogant. I mean, at first it was just a few people that said it, but now I'm noticing a LOT more who agree. I was just wondering if you guys think there's any validity behind that or think it's total bull.

its the internet, why do people take it so seriously. the only time i come on here to the forums is when im talkin to one of my friends online. im not sure of the exact number of the forum members(in the millions?) but i dont think you can say everyone is heartless and arrogant. why dont we all just get together, kick back a few brewskis and have a good time.

I do believe there are a lot of arrogant people on the forums. I've bumped into many very nice people who make me smile everytime I see their avatar; however, there is plenty of racism, homophobia, sexism and just about any other form of intolerence you can think of. I usually try to ignore these people since I figure they are probably just kids trying to sound cool or tough. Sometimes, though, it does spoil my fun. I still enjoy the forums a lot, but I wish people would be more considerate sometimes. It is the internet, but that doesn't mean that things can't be found offensive. I agree with Squibbles, we should all just kick back with a few beers and have a good time!

Speaking as a total newb/outsider, I'm a moderator of a seperate forum - for the 'official' version of [a game hosted on eBaums]. (No, I'm not going to give the URL/gamename because I don't want to self-advertise, I don't want to get involved in that matter yet and because I don't want to inadvertantly start a forum war. PM me if you really want to know).
On that forum the general opinion seemed to be that the Ebaums forumers are (please don't take this as my opinion) arrogant steriotypical n00bs who basically worship Mr Baums and flame/ban/generally trash anyone who disagrees - ie "ebaums r00lez j00 faggot burn 1n h3ll!!11fiftyseven". One of the reasons I joined here was to see how true that was, and I'm glad to say that it is wrong. But there is a lot of hate towards eBaums at the moment, for whatever reasons, and this forum is seen as nothing more than the Eric Bauman Fan Club. Like I said, I'm glad to see that (like all steriotypes) the description is far from the truth.
Reading Serendipity's post from earlier it looks like the forum has it's share of the ignorant, but that's no worse than every other popular public forum.

@serendipity/squibbles: yeah, 'beer goggles' can be a problem. I've made a fool of myself before, thanks to cider. Strongbow/Blackthorn can have some interesting effects, especially at a pound (~$1.75) a pint. :rollseyes

I think the eBaum's World forum membership is a typical sampling of all internet users. You are going to run into all types here, just as you would anywhere else on the internet. Fortunately, the jerks are usually banned quickly, or are just ignored until they get the hint and leave on their own. There's a lot of cool members around to ensure they don't last long here. These 'outcasts' are probably the ones causing the most noise.

I have been on the forum for three years as of tomorrow, and I can say this is the best damn forum on the internet. I have been to other forums, and not one comes close to this one. Sure this forum has a few idiots; every forum has its share of them...and others like ytmnd is full of idiots.

iangb, the only part of the forum that talks anything about eBaum and the site is the comments section, the rest of the forum is just one big community. Sure we all love eBaumsworld, but the majority of us that are at the forum every day are here mostly because of the forum...not the main website.
