How did you pick your favorite teams?

So why do you like the team(s) that you do? I know not everyone here just roots for their home team and I know that not everyone here has a "home" team.

As for me, I was born in Denver and do I've been a Bronco fan my whole life. I moved to the Seattle area when I was a kid but grew to hate the Seaducks with a passion because they were somewhat of a rival to the Broncos (both teams being afc west at the time). I'm not a die hard fan of any other teams but I'll generally root for the AFC in the superbowl.

When the Packers went to the Superbowl againts the Patriots, my older brother really liked them, so therefore I liked them. I kept the like, while he switched teams, and today, nearly a decade later, they're still my favorite team.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh...basically raised a Steeler, Pirate, and Penguin fan...I dont have a favorite college team because I could um..care less about college teams...but I watch it.

All of my favorite teams are home teams. I live in Annapolis (half hour from Washington DC) so I like the Redskins and the Capitals. I don't really like MLB or NBA. Also, I go to the University of Maryland so I'm a Terps fan for college sports.

Well the reason I am an Eagles fan is my father was a steelers fan, he grew up in Pittsburgh, But moved to Texas b4 I was born, It's funny cuz I have never been to Pennsylvania, and plus when I was a kid my first jersey was a Randall Cunningham jersey, so I just grew to like them. It's not easy being a Eagles fan these days it seems.

Well I like the jets because they are a lot more of a New York team then the Giants even though they suck....I grew up a Met fan up until around 2001...But Watching Aaron Boone’s homerun in the 11th inning in the ALCS vs. the Red Sox was one of the most exciting memories of my life…from there on out I became a diehard Yankee fan there is so much history.Being a Yankee fan pretty much defines a real true New Yorker.

I like Chelsea 'cos my dad supports thme so i followed him. i like Bristol rugby because they are local and the same goes for Bristol rovers and Glostershire CCC. i also like the dallas stars. New York Giants and the Heat

i live in boston and i am a HUGE red sox fan. I am not too big on hockey, but I love football. I used to like the pats until bledsoe left. Last season i watched every cowboys game. He is the greatest.

When I was four years old my dad looked at me and said "hey we just won 20 bucks the Cowboys beat the Seahawks" Fan ever since
He could have said any team I think, it was the first team that ever registered in my mind. I knew nothing about them, i was four. Weird.
I love the Padres cause I am a homer though.

When I was a kid, I cheered for the teams like NFL: Bufflo Bills, MLB: San Fran Giants, NBA: Bulls.

I am now a typical home town fan, my teams consist of Redskins, Wizards, Capitals, Nationals, Virginia Teach, UVA.

Football:

Denver Broncos - in 3rd grade...I had just moved to a new neighborhood, and I didn't watch sports at all. One day my friends asked me what my favorite football team was and I said "Oh, I dunno...what team is orange (orange was my favorite color at the time)? One of them said "The Denver Broncos are orange" so I said "ok, thats my favorite team". Funny thing is tht 5 years after I started following them they won the Super Bowl...I laughed.

Ohio State Buckeyes: Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio...I go to Ohio State, pretty self-explanatory

Baksetball:

Cleveland Cavaliers: I used to like the Sacramento Kings, but then LeBron happened, so...yeah.

Favorite College Team = Buckeyes, same reason as football

Baseball:

No one likes/watches baseball

Hockey:

Blue Jackets b/c of hometown-ness and Red Wings because I had NHL '96 for the SNES and I raped EVERYONE with them

I live in Scotland so obviously I can't have a home team but I did go to Denver last year and saw the Nuggets play, since then I've been a fan. Also The Houston Rockets cause Tracy McGrady is my favourite player.

I'm a homer and most of the teams I root for are based in Texas. There's a few though that I wouldn't be interested in if it wasn't for friends getting me to watch them or some players being favorites. The ones I've probably kept up with the longest are the Colts, Eagles, and Packers. It's been fun to see all of them get to be really good at some point.

Packers- My best friend's family liked them while I was growing up. I never liked football until two years ago, but I always played as the Packers in video games and stuff. Finally, when I came to my senses about football, I liked the packer. I hate the giants because my cousin likes them, and the jets because they suck

The Yankees and Devils are obvious, as they both play within an hour of me. I'm not sure why I like the Yankees over the Mets, or the Devils over the Isles/Rags, though...
