Gameboy was my first video game type of thing. N64 was my first real console. I ended up buying an SNES after my 64 though. Then got a Playstation - a PS1, with the little screen that can attach onto it. My brother and I used to play International Superstar Soccer on that thing during long car rides for hours on end. Then I got an Xbox. I don't know if I'm going to get any of the new systems. I want to wait until the price goes down at least. I'm also intrigued to see the Nintendo Revolution. I have a feeling it's going to be terrible but it's unique controllers have me curious.

[edit]
I also got a Gameboy Color in there at some point.

Atari, Nintendo, Sega Saturn, N64, Playstation and then PS2. I still play the original Mario on the Nintendo. Unforunately the Atari crapped out years ago, the Nintendo however, is still running strong.

Mine was Nintendo, but to be honest I don't remember how I got it. You know how you're a toddler than one day your memory becomes functional and you have control of yourself? Like the transition from a baby to a child. Well I guess when that happened with me, I already had the nintendo.

My first was the Nintendo Entertainment System! So damn fun, and we had like 4. Where'd they all go?

P.S. I'm sitting next to a box with a NES, a whole bunch of games, Zapper, and controllers. I wish I had the RF adapter and power cable. T_T

My very first system was probably one of the best to start with, the nes. I got it in 93' (i was like 4 or 5 ) and ive pretty much been hooked on gaming ever since, ive managed at one time or another to own pretty much all systems except dreamcast, i got the 360 and needless to say am pleased with it, regardless of what all the microsoft bashers may think.

i remember i would always see this shoebox-sized thing in a grocery bag at my grandmas house, curiosity got to me and i opened it, only to discover it was an old NES! i believe it was my uncle's old system, it included 2 controllers, super mario bros. 1 and 2 and some other one i can't remember, this was back in like '90. i never officially claimed it as mine but i definitely played it as if it was. MY first official system though was a SNES, i bought it with super mario world and jurrasic park from some video store, i had a lot of fun with those things.

I started with an Atari 2600. The games look so crappy now but the way they were played was the important thing, and some of them are still somewhat enjoyable, otherwise Gametap wouldn't even bother with them. You could spend lots of time on one game trying to get better and have a new high score. Most didn't really seem to have an end unless you died or just got bored.

Also, I'm surprised anyone said they had a Colecovision, because I've only known one other person who actually played on one. It was a little ahead of its time, so a lot of people thought it was weird. The basic controller was a joystick with a numberpad, and you could buy a special sports stick with a bunch of action buttons on it for baseball, boxing, football, etc. They also made a "kid's computer" as an upgrade.

The first console I ever got was my PS2. I had a computer before that and played some PC games. I would have had a console much sooner than that, but every time I convinced my parents to rent me an N64 from Blockbuster, I turned into this kid:http://www.dumpalink.com/media/1143536510/Insanely_Happy_Kids

Now being that kid wouldn't be too bad at first (he does look happy) but imagine trying to take the N64 away from him. If he makes a lot of noise when he gets the N64, imagine how much noise he would make when he loses it. Ya, so my parents didn't really want me to have one of those in the house all the time.
