Madden 06, Vick help!

Didnt know where to post this, so I'm sticking it in this forum section. :)

Buddy and I always play a few games of Madden on the weekends, and the games are always really really close. However, recently he found a way to expose my defense no matter what play I choose (IE: Blitz, zone etc)

His technique isnt all that flashy, he uses Mike Vick in 1 of 3 ways.

Lets say, I blitz!
- He'll juice my line men, usually dropping back 10yrds or so, then immediately find his open reciever.
- Now this doesnt always work, if I put some coverage in the back field, however 7/10 times will get him the needed yardage for the 1st down.

Lets say, I play Zone coverage.
- He'll use Vick to manuever around my line, and either
A) Wait till one of his guys cuts back for an easy pass.
B) Exploit my slow linemen who break through his defenders and run circles around him. I think he's been able to run 2 touchdowns on me, in a single game.

Lets say, I play Man Coverage.
-Again, this goes exactly like a zone play, he'll drop back! Because Vick's so fast, he can just run circles around my defense and pick a first down.

So how does one stop Vick or ANY mobile QB????

Should I be using QB spy and shift the backs so they encase Vick in his little pocket?

Yea i play madden alot and the way i stop ppl from running on me is i shift the d line out, you know where they all move out a space. Also there should be a play where the line backers go zone into the flats so if he tries to run out there there will be a line backer on each side waiting. Other then that try picking each of your defensive plays with either a lineman or linebacker in spy, its not zone ( spy is the little orange circle ) that will give u at least one linebacker to try and keep vick contained.

Thanks for the info, I'm gonna try that Spy tactic, hopefully it'll stop his ass.

He knows it's weak using the QB to exploit, but it's the only way he'll have a chance to keep up with me. ;)

Use the QB contain defense.

Split your front 2 so the ends can burn the blockers and have a fast linebacker in QB coverage..always works.

I hate fuckers that run with their QBs.

Or just control the linebacker and if he decides to run follow him.

I forget the formation, but there is one where both DE's and the MLB spy. That is effective to an extent. Maybe play in nickel formation and constantly keep a fast corner on him?

Use the Nickel package and use the play that has the QB Spy and the DE contain.

If you know hes throwing use the dime formation Prevent with the 2 QB spies.

If you know hes running do a DE contain or the blitz that sends the wide receiver coverage from the sides and around.

The Falcons are a tricky team to play. The Falcons are pretty much the only team where the quarterback is the star player. Well besides that fucking quarterback for the colts will I will always refuse to name, hes like Hitler, always shouting and dancing around before he dos anything. That and Wart Dunn make a speedy duo.

The Falcons dont have very great wide receiver coverage, I have had 3+ man coverage on people and the guy still catches it.

no no these guys are all wrong u should use the 49ers and put manny lawson OLB as a MLB and run zone plays and just be him and just fallow vick werever he goes lawson speed is 91 fastest linebaker so u have a 99 percent to catch up to him vicks speed is 93 not that far so just do that!!!!

play as a team with a fast middle linebacker(Urlacher is good for this). play as that linebacker and just stop him from throwing and your linebacker should be able to keep vick from running all over you. did the same thing against vick and stomped his ass.

A combo of QB spy with a good MLB, and saying "Only pussies slide!!" should have Vick on the trainers table in no time.

Do everything that everyone else mentioned. Also when you are on offense run the ball, alot, go up the middle, and take your time, eat up clock so his offense cant be on the field, but dont be a fag the whole time and run your play clock to 5 sec. every play. Be persistent but not arrogant, use play action plays that are in the same formation that you usually run the ball with, that way to can catch him off guard.

when playing vick, ALWAYS pick a play with a QB spy. That way, theres always at least one guy on the QB. If he scrambles, you can crush him.

i like the dime flat qb spy, esp. if your rolb and lolb are really good, because in certain offensive formations you can bring the right to the left or the left to the right depending on where theres the least amount of blockers, and then when the ball is hiked, you can blitz with youur olb, and if you dont nail the qb, you will force lots of interceptions, and the qb has a much harder time running to the outside
