Heres the first page. One of the best storys i have ever read
Barry is so fake i cant believe i have one of his jerseys. But then of course he was using during the time where every one was using but hitting and choking hes secrete wife is too far

On May 22, 1998, the San Francisco Giants arrived in St. Louis for a three-game series with the Cardinals. That weekend, Giants All-Star leftfielder Barry Bonds got a firsthand look at the frenzied excitement surrounding Mark McGwire, baseball's emerging Home Run King.

Bonds had recently remarried, but on this trip he was accompanied by his girlfriend, Kimberly Bell, a slender, attractive woman with long brown hair and brown eyes whom he had met four years earlier in the players' parking lot at Candlestick Park. Bell had been looking forward to the trip, and it was pleasant in many ways -- a big hotel room with a view of St. Louis's famous arch; a wonderful seat eight rows behind home plate; and even tornado warnings, which were exotic to a California girl. But Bonds was sulky and brooding. A three-time National League MVP, he was one of the most prideful stars in baseball. All that weekend, though, he was overshadowed by McGwire.

Even by the standards of the modern game, the Cardinals' first baseman was a player of exceptional size and power. That summer the 6'5" McGwire weighed 250 muscular pounds and was hitting balls that traveled in long, soaring arcs. The season was less than two months old, but he already had hit 20 home runs and was ahead of both Babe Ruth's and Roger Maris's record-breaking paces. Players, fans and the media were already eagerly anticipating that McGwire would break baseball's most storied record, but Bonds's mood remained irretrievably foul.

On that trip Bonds began making racial remarks about McGwire to Kimberly Bell. According to Bell he would repeat them throughout the summer, as McGwire and Sammy Sosa, the buff, fan-friendly Chicago Cubs slugger who also was hitting home runs at an amazing rate, became the talk of the nation.

"They're just letting him do it because he's a white boy," Bonds said of McGwire and his chase of Maris's record. The pursuit by Sosa, a Latin player from the Dominican Republic, was entertaining but doomed, Bonds declared. As a matter of policy, "they'll never let him win," he said.

As he sometimes did when he was in a particularly bleak mood, Bonds was channeling racial attitudes picked up from his father, the former Giants star Bobby Bonds, and his godfather, the great Willie Mays, both African-American ballplayers who had experienced virulent racism while starting their professional careers in the Jim Crow South. Barry Bonds himself had never seen anything remotely like that: He had grown up in an affluent white suburb of San Francisco, and his best boyhood friend, his first wife and his present girlfriend all were white. When Bonds railed about McGwire, he didn't articulate who "they" were, or how the supposed conspiracy to rig the home run record was being carried out. But his brooding anger was real enough, and it continued throughout a year in which he batted .303, hit 37 home runs, made the All-Star team for the eighth time and was otherwise almost completely ignored. The home run chase, meanwhile, transfixed even casual fans, in the way that a great pennant race used to do in the old days.

McGwire hit number 62 on Sept. 8 in St. Louis, amidst a wild celebration and before a national TV audience, and then continued hitting bombs: five of them in his final 11 at bats, including two on the last day of the season, to finish with 70, four ahead of Sosa.

On the West Coast, Barry Bonds was astounded and aggrieved by the outpouring of hero worship for McGwire, a hitter whom he regarded as obviously inferior to himself. Bonds was 34 years old, had played in the big leagues for 12 years and was known for an unusual combination of speed and power. Before the 1993 season he had signed what was then the richest contract in the game: $43.75 million for six years, and he knew he was on his way to the Hall of Fame. For as long as he had played baseball, Bonds had regarded himself as better than every other player he encountered, and almost always he was right.

I got done reading the whole article and I can honestly he is a terrible person. He not only cheated playing baseball, but also lied in front of a grand jury, cheated on his wife, and beat and threatened to kill his girlfriend. Not to mention he has a gigantic head () and is a fucking asshole. I hope he never beats Aaron's record. And I want to see a bunch of "***" next to his name for season home run record.

This is all bullshit. "According to bell...." thats where I stopped reading it. According to me, Albert Pujols is a transexual who defected from cuba. He also told me personally "Whites go to hell". People need to formulate thier own opinions and they shouldnt accept everything they hear as a fact. This new book is a witch hunt, and nothing more. All it does is provide more slander, more allegations, and more unreliable sources. I have not read the book (neither has anyone else... ) and I can assure you all the "sources" are unreliable. The media has done nothing but villianize Bonds, slander Bonds, and make false accusations and sadly its worked... By the way, im not defending Bonds per se, just pointing out how rediculous this whole thing is.

It does seem odd though.

Bonds before 1998 (the year the SI piece labels the beginning of his steroid usage):

.288/.411/.551, 374 HRs (6069 ABs)

after '98

.323/.506/.730, 334 HRs (3071 ABs)

Everyone knows Bonds has taken steroids. If you think otherwise, you are a Giants fan. There is no logical explanation as to how he would have his best years in his late 30's. Bonds was a hall of famer before 1998, so there really was no reason for him to do it. He is one of the most naturally talented players in the game, but gets no respect because he cheats and he's an asshole. That is why everyone slams him.

Babe Ruth lived in a completely different time when it was not only acceptable to be a racist, it was the norm. Bonds is not only a racist he is just a prick. Oh and he better get used to wearing a dress because with all the roids he takes he is going to end up with bitch tits, and no balls.

Barry Bonds is on the verge of a federal indictment for purgery for lying about his steroid use during a grand jury investigation in 2003. Since then, he's made it to 3rd all-time on the MLB home run list. If you don't want to see him make it to #2 or #1, go to:

I hope he doesn't hit another homer. He had amazing natural talent, he didn't need to juice himself up with roids. I can understand a minor leaguer who is trying to make ends meet and try to make it into the big leagues, but this guy was already in the big leagues making big bucks. He didn't need to do it. I hope he plays the whole year, hits .111 with 0 homers.

The whole barry bonds thing is old. Get over it now, their never gonna find out if he did or not. Honestly I could care less if he took steriods or not. It doesn't inhance your hand and eye coordination. Just power. I say put the whole barry bonds thing to rest unless they find evidence. As a matter of fact how long have they been investigating his ass and came up with nothing. It may be just me but it seems like they have been on him for what 2years now?.

There are so many things wrong with that post, I'm not exactly sure where to begin. First of all, If he were to gain 37 pounds over one year, it would be in the offseason, not the summer. Second, he gained the weight gradually. Its not hard to gain about 40 pounds over a 20 year career in baseball... (anyone who thinks Barry did steroids because hes big is a fucking idiot, and their opinions shouldnt be taken seriously). I'm not sure who pisses me off more, the Bonds bashers who make outrageous claims based on unreliable sources (if any) and a book that they have not read yet, or the people who blindly defend Bonds without even thinking he might have done steroids. I'm starting to lean towards the second group more and more everyday though...

How about this for evidence. A doctor went on record as saying that there are only two ways of gaining almost a full hat size (Bonds head grew about 3/4 of a size in a few years) at his age.
1. Steroids.
2. A brain tumor.

If he has a brain tumor than I guess all is forgiven.

When all is said and done baseball history won't look at him in a good light.

Face it, Bonds is disliked cause he is a jerk, roids or not. If you don't think so you just have ignored everythig that's been written, said, talked.. etc about him. Good, well liked people don't get a rep like his.

I bet his girfriend did not make all that S.I. shit up either! That shows his character.

Also every negative source cannot be deemed unreliable. Most all of his press is NEG!

We will see how it all ends up for him.
