One possible alternative was to allow the United Nations continue its inspections authorized by the member nations. As a world leader, the United States should set the example in following the world court.

Instead, ignoring world opinion, we have become the agressor in a military conflict where the justification has been very poorly articulated and not accepted outside of the United States.

Now we can only hope that we can bear the consquences of Bush's gamble.

The other possible solution is to take the US governments North Korea approach. The evil dictator who opresses and kills his people, openly has a nuclear program, openly has missiles now able to reach the west coast yet has no oil is completly ignored. Bush hasnt even spoken of North Korea, CNN woudnt give that subject more than 10 secs of play, yet TARGET IRAQ has been in the media for 8 months. For a country fighting to "free an opressed people" and protect the "world from a madman" you have strange way of assesing threats. I suppose if theres no precious comodity to be gained, those superior US morals evaporate. North Korea is just about the ONLY country, and the most likely, to have a nuke pointed our way MAINLY becuase they have stated that they're nuclear weapons program is entering some advanced stages.

I re-state and re-phrase the question: If the war on Iraq is being fought for humanitarian reasons, why is Iraq still seen as MORE of a threat than Noth Korea, or at least enough to bomb them before we bomb Korea?

Whether or not North Korea has been co-operating (and I now doubt it because of the docs linked in the last post), they're leader (not so sure of his name) seems to be a larger threat than Saddam Hussein.

If the WORLD clamors for the inspections to continue, and the US reall does have 'bigger fish to fry' (North Korea), why not deal with North Korea FIRST?? unless of course by waiting for more allies to join in the 'war on iraq' bandwagon, you're afraid of getting a smaller piece of the oil pie?

Just a suggestion... I'm not sure if I even believe it myself. But the US's actions seem to support this possibility more than the cover of 'humanitarian liberation' they're operating under now.

People do have the right to protest. The trendy, liberal, live-for-the-media-attention whores in New York, San Francisco, and other Al Gore-voting major cities do NOT have the right to tie up traffic and police/fire/paramedic resources. Disrupting the ability of hard-working, job-holding REAL Americans to get to work is abhorrent.
I would gladly be on the streets telling those protestors to go home and get a job if I wasn't so busy with A JOB and paying my taxes to SUPPORT our government which is probably just paying that money back to those hippies on unemployment/welfare.
