This coming season, the familiar blue, white and yellow colours of NAPA Autopro will again be prominently displayed on Doug Brown’s Monte Carlos as the Brantford native continues his challenges of CASCAR Super Series’ national tour title.

Confirmation of the return of the team’s long-term sponsorship/marketing partner came on March 2nd and is a welcome relief to Doug and his team mates who are again planning to run the entire 2006 Super Series schedule.

Brown finished eleventh in the national standings last year –his first full season on Canada’s premier stock car racing circuit. With eight top-10 finishes in the 12-event/14-race series, he’s quietly optimistic a 10th-place or better finish in this year’s national series standings is an attainable goal.

“We are certainly pleased that NAPA Autopro is solidly behind our programs again this season and we are going to do everything within our power to demonstrate our gratitude for their continuing support”, responded the veteran campaigner when the word came down from NAPA’s Ontario Region Marketing Manager Kevin Patterson.

“With the increasing cost of competition and the late release of CASCAR’s schedule which includes some added travel, a lot of teams like ourselves weren’t sure what we were going to do as of late February”, Doug added in recounting his earlier concerns.

The loss of the CHAMP Car World Series event in Toronto and the decision of Delaware Speedway to drop its two traditional Super Series events from its 2006 schedule caught a lot of teams and sponsors by surprise. But with the addition of the CHAMP Car race in Edmonton, a return to the Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres and the ongoing possibility of appearing at the CHAMP Car weekend in Montreal, this year’s schedule is shaping up to be one that will draw a lot of attention and be of tremendous benefit to team and series’ sponsors.

The ten confirmed events on this year’s schedule are projected to draw upwards of 355,000 live fans. And with Rogers Sportsnet and US-based Speed Channel again providing tape-delayed coverage of Super Series events, the series will again receive the most television coverage of any Canadian motorsports series.

When asked what his plans are before the season gets underway in mid-May, the second generation competitor quickly responded, “We still have some work to do in securing additional sponsors, but with this year’s schedule, the fact that NASCAR is increasing its direct involvement in CASCAR and some other exciting developments that officials have indicated they are working on, we’re confident we can attract some added partners who recognize the sport’s growing popularity as a marketing medium.”
