if you cant be arsed reading the article, kerrang! (british metal/alt rock publication) have got a bunch of artists to do a cover album of metallicas master of puppets.

Machine Head - 'Battery'
Trivium- 'Master Of Puppets'
Mendeed - 'The Thing That Should Not Be'
Bullet For My Valentine - 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)'
Chimaira - 'Disposable Heroes'
Fightstar - 'Leper Messiah'
Mastodon - 'Orion'
Funeral For A Friend - 'Damage, Inc.'.

What a load of shit that will sound.

....cept for battery (machine head) and orion (mastodon), i look forward to hearing those.

Funeral for a friend and Fightstar being the main offenders. fans of this album, well fuck, anyone in their right mind doesnt want to listen to that shit.

Im sick of them majesticalising trivium as the next Metallica. They can fuck off.

i cant be arsed talking bout the other bands.

but Kerrang! maintains its position as my favorite comedy publication.

Agreed. There is a video clip of Machine Head rehearsing Battery on their website if you care enough to have a look.

Not much of a fan of any of those bands other than Trivium and Mastadon, they're the only ones that interest me on that album. I'm not too familiar with Mastadon though, since I just heard them yesterday to know what I'm going to be hearing at the Unholy Alliance concert I'm going to in July. It's going to be tits.

I used to like Machine Head, but their recent stuff sucked balls....not to mention that rap garbage they did.
I'll still check out their Battery cover though. The rest of the album will probably suck.

bullet for my valentine doing metallica...good Lord.
this is like 'my chemical romance' doing of a cover of a misfits song.

.....oh wait...

They did!? That's fuckin blasphemy.
yeah, it's on the 'tony hawk: american wasteland" soundtrack.

I didn't like it when Dream Theater played the Master of Puppets album. James La Brie just really didn't suit it. It didn't sound right.

I don't know much about Fightstar or whatever, but why do they allow Bullet and Funeral to defecate on what may very well be Metallica's best album ever? It makes me want to cry. :(

Meh. Never heard of Mendeed or Fightstar. Don't care for Funeral For A Friend. But I do like the rest of the line up, so I'm looking forward to it. Should be good.

If machinehead butchers battery, they suck hard, even a retard could'nt ruin a song that good.

I say the only person bad enough to ruin Battery is Avril Lavinge

Why don't they get good bands to cover it? Mastodon will do Orion justice because it's an instrumental. Bands like Chimaira and Trivium will render Metallica unlistenable with their completely shite vocals, especially Mat Heafy from Trivium. He has the least intimidating yells and such a whiny clean voice.

And isn't Funeral For A Friend an emo band? How the hell are a bunch of limpdick emos going to cover such a thrashy song?

They won't butcher it. I've heard them play Seek and Destroy and I have a recording of them playing Battery from quite a while ago. The only thing is that Robb's voice doesn't fit the song.

Not emo, but they just suck. Are they just gonna leave out the solo then? I can't imagine they can play that, let alone the rest of the song.

Here are samples from the album, trivium, to me, being the best one.

Agreed. Bullet for my Valentine did a solid job of turning Sanitarium into an emo song...fuckers.

And it was a waste of JP's skills lawl

Seriously though, I was being serious.

I love Machine Head and Mastodon, so bring those tracks on.

i like a7x. they have good guitarists but since their singer blew his voice now it kinda makes him sound raspy.
also i thought Funeral for a friend did a better job at their cover than i thought they would. i didnt even know they sang like that, i was surprised.
