Ouch, please don't call me a scone, it may drive me to suicide. I think Eminem's songs has pretty decent beats to his songs. And no, I do not listen to other rappers cause they are black, I don't listen to them cause I don't like their songs, kinda makes sense doesn't it, not exactly gonna listen to songs I don't like. Duh!

Reminds me of the Nas/Memphis Bleek beef ('he stole my line').

As for white rappers, listen to 'Beyond There' by Jehst or 'Night Light' by Aesop Rock...

Nah it's just humorous cause I remember calling you that and I meant in a racist way.. as in a scone is like a british cracker.. so it was just funny to see you call someone else a scone.

Never heard Jehst, but Aes < Em for sure. Aes has a wack voice and flow. It's like that dude is unaware that syllables are supposed to be smoothly rationed over the beat.

Living up to your racist reputation as usual eh? Anyway I spouted it ironically, it only entered my vocabulary through your disgraceful utilisation of it (Edit: reported).

Aesop Rock's style is the equivalent of a song in 7/8 or something, unconventional and demanding and slightly disjointed, but beautifully so, I think he communicates lots of emotion. What you said is like lecturing Miles Davis for being unaware on 'Kind Of Blue' that notes should be arranged in minor/major scales when he was using modes.

Yeah, I've actually heard a bit of Aesop Rock and I liked it... which is saying a lot for someone who doesn't like rap/hip hop. I like a bit of Eminem and Cypress Hill as well. I haven't heard much Wu-Tang or Outkast yet though.

And seeing as I like funk rock, I've always been exposed to rapped vocals in rock/metal music. Rage Against the Machine, RHCP, Faith No More, Infectious Grooves, Parliament etc...

eminem has talent...period...does that mean that all of his songs are good? no...does that mean that most of his songs are good? not even close...he's made a lot of crap...in the end...it doesn't change the fact that he has major talent...I'll give props to Slug though, he's good but I lost respect for Eyedea when I heard him freestyle...

anyways...as in every Eminem thread I post in I'll post this for those who need converting:

Give me a moment to overcome my utter shock and disbelief.

That's not how it is at all, you're just trying to look smart... Aes doesn't even worry about syllables his shit's just random like fucking def poetry jam or something. Plus he excessively uses punch-ins.. which only adds to the akwardness. There's a difference between a complex flow and a completely random, half assed lazy flow. MF Doom has a complex flow.. Aes Rock doesn't even know what the word means. Not to say I don't listen to him at all.. just that he's no cream of the crop..

I thought you listened to underground? Not strictly..

I actually like Slug, he's got a lot of character.. but as a RAPPER does he touch eminem? No. Eminems rhymes > his. Eminem's flow > his. Slug has good content but then again Em has made better overall songs.. especially on SSLP. You don't see no Atmosphere songs that sound as good as Bad Meets Evil or Guilty Conscience.

As for Eyedea.. good battler, wack albums.

I'd recommend GZA's 'Liquid Swords' album, it's just an incredible record that sustains momentum throughout, it conveys a wide range of moods and finishes superbly.

And Jax, you could get shot, stabbed or knuckled down, one out of the three. MF Doom is boring and characterless, Mos Def raps like he's got a fucking speech impediment, terrible flow - Aes is technically sound...

reggie jax
04-04-2006, 11:43 AM
MF Doom's voice and/or delivery may make you say he's boring.. but that has NOTHING to do with his god damn flow. Mos Def has an amazing delivery and a good flow.. his emphasis on irregular syllables is what makes his rapping so dynamic. It's ok.. you're still on the "hip hop for beginners" course.

...

On the topic of the thread, one of my favorite Eminem verses:

I walked into a gunfight with a knife to kill you
And cut you so fast when your blood spilled it was still blue
I'll hang you til you dangle and chain you with both ankles
And pull you apart from both angles
I wanna crush your skull til your brains leaks out of your veins
And bust open like broken water mains
So tell Saddam not to bother with makin another bomb
Cause I'm crushin the whole world in my palm
Got your girl on my arm and I'm armed with a firearm
So big my entire arm is a giant firebomb
Buy your mom a shirt with a Slim Shady iron-on
And the pants to match ("Here momma try em on")
I get imaginative with a mouth full of adjectives,
a brain full of adverbs, and a box full of laxatives
(Shittin on rappers) Causin hospital accidents
God help me before I commit some irresponsible acts again
Too fuckin' ill.

You're like some metal head boasting about why a band is great because their guitarist is so technically superb - if the music is unmoving it counts for fuck all, motherfucker. 'Flow' can be interpreted in numerous ways - so don't never in your life get me confused with some of them other niggas you might see on TV or in magazines and such...

'Flow' can be interpreted in numerous ways - so don't never in your life get me confused with some of them other niggas you might see on TV or in magazines and such...Oh am I? Yeah I guess I am.. I can get a bit pretentious from time to time. Like that time when I started spoutin off about what scales Miles Davis plays in during a fuckin hip hop discussion.

When you say "flow" can be interpreted in different ways I don't know if you mean actual flows can or if the word itself can. "Flow" is the way a rapper matches his words to a beat. There is no other meaning for the word in hip hop. Whether a flow is off beat or not is subjective... me sayin Aes Rock has a wack flow is subjective.. the actual meaning of the word is pretty solid, there's just a lot of forum ass niggas wit dey half assed posts using the word in the wrong context.

KEALYBOY
04-04-2006, 02:56 PM
Flow can be interpreted as lifeless, as vibrant, as beautiful, as anything, it is the effect it has, thus I'm within my rights to call Doom's flow boring. Applied to rock, Jimmy Page can play the guitar very fast and his 'flow' may be quick, but Duane Allman will have a slower 'flow' and the same 'flow' will be ten times as moving. Or is it cos Aes is white? Give me 2 Henneseys...

Eminem-Fack:

"Ok I'm done
I already came twice
You ain't gonna make me cum
I'm all out of gas
Not so fast
Ah Your finger just went in my ass'
Ahh that hurts take it out now
Oh wait a minute nooo put it back in
In in in
This don't mean I'm gay, I don't like men
I like boobs
Boobs boobs
Now See that gerbel
Grab that tube
Shove it up my butt
Let that little rascal nibble on my asshole
Oh yeah right there, right there
Uhhh I'm cumming
Oh yeah
Fack I just came again
Ok pull it out now
Oh fack yeah
Wait he's not out
He's still crawling around up there
Oh fack I think it's stuck
Oh but it feels so fucking good

Ah ah ah ahhh
Oh god damn
I'm gonna facckin cum
Oh shit, oh yeah
Fack fack fack
Fack I am
I am,
I'm going to cum
I'm cumming

Shove a gerbel in your ass through a tube x4"

'nuff said.

Flow can be interpreted as lifeless, as vibrant, as beautiful, as anything, it is the effect it has, thus I'm within my rights to call Doom's flow boring. Yeah you are, I just figured you meant his voice/delivery since Doom's flow is one of the most unique flows you'll find.

Applied to rock, Jimmy Page can play the guitar very fast and his 'flow' may be quick, but Duane Allman will have a slower 'flow' and the same 'flow' will be ten times as moving.Flow doesn't really translate into rock at all cause it's more than just the rate at which they rap..

Or is it cos Aes is white? Give me 2 Henneseys...Yes, you guessed it right. Because Aes is white, I dismiss the notion of him being better than Eminem, another white rapper.

It's not like Aes is the first or only rapper to have the whole simplistic, free-range syllable flow.. if it makes you feel any better.. Ras Kass, a black emcee, has an even wacker flow for the same reason.

All these threads on Eminem are the same. Most, except for the people who simply hate rap but wander into a rap thread anyway, agree that...

First 3 albums were great, and in some aspects, the greatest

Last two albums were not great. He has nothing left to say, and he is repeating everything over and over again.
