Simple premis, tell us the last album you bought and the reason(s) why you bought it... and thus a thread is born.

Album: Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones

Reason: I was in the record store yesterday, just mooching around before I headed off home, when I noticed a song playing over the speakers, I listened and boped my head to it and thought to myself "The voice sounds familiar", I asked one of the store clerks who it was and they told me that it was "Yeah Yeah Yeahs", and thats where I knew the voice from (one of the songs in my top 50 is "Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs... awesome song), I snatched the CD up, headed home, downloaded it onto my iPod and smiled as the melody entered my brain.

Now your turn, Album and why... and I want real, paragraph reasons... and NO BITCHING because you think someone's band sucks, thats your opinion not theirs, so I thank you to keep it to yourself.

The last album I purchased eh?

Album: Odyssey and Oracle by The Zombies

Why?: Well I've always been familiar with the kick ass song "Time of the Season", and I guy I used to work with last year bought it and would talk about it. So I decided to pick it up a few months ago. And let's just say, WOW. This album is really amazing. 60's rock at it's finest. Vocal harmonizing is amazing, keyboarding is amazing, really it's just a perfect album.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Down Among the Deadmen

It started when I was browsing a heavy metal website that I frequent and noticed a band with a particularly long and strange name. Then I noticed that the reviews were 5/5's and 4.75/5's. I read the reviews and liked what I read, so I went to the band's website and downloaded some sample mp3's. After listening to these two songs over and over for months, I decided to buy the album "Traveller" that they were on. I listened to that album for a while and really liked it. Then, I heard from many people that "Down Among the Deadmen" was just as good. I bought it online a little less than a month ago.

Both of those bands kick ass. I love Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. If you like those bands you'll probably like Kansas... not sure if you listen to them yet or not. I've been listening to them a lot lately.

Album: Quasimoto - The Unseen

Reason: I had a $20 gift card for a local record shop. I already heard a few songs off of it and thought they where good.

I buy in Bulk....

First I bought the legendary shoegaze album Nowhere by Ride.

Second I bought the jaw dropping Agaetis Byrjun by Sigur Ros, almost rendered me senseless.

Third I Bought Absence by Dalek which is some great Industrial Hip-Hop and it's awesome

Last I bought Stargzing by Alpha which is pretty cool chill stuff.

Album: Iron Maiden - "Brave New World"

Reason: It's fucking IRON MAIDEN! Truth is, I've loved Maiden for years. Almost as long as I can remember. But I've never owned an album by them. I've got most of their songs on my hard drive. So I was at the music store last week, and I saw it used for $8.99. Hell yeah.

I've ordered, but havn't got yet:
Amon Amarth - Once Sent From the Golden Hall
Anthrax - Among the Living
Dream Theater - Images and Words
Testament - The New Order

I bought the Anthrax CD because I want one before the concert (April 10th). I bought the rest as well to get free delivery.

Replacing my old vinyl version. The remastered edition has extra tracks and comes with a book that's full of info about the making of the record.

The last CD I bought was Universal Blues by The Redwalls. I already had and loved De Nova, so I had to have this one, but this is a somewhat unknown band and their even more unknown CD, so I couldn't find a place to download it from. I decided to cough up the thirteen bucks and order it off of Amazon.com. It was worth it, but I still prefer De Nova. I love the song, I Just Want to Be the One.

The last album I bought was The Back Room by Editors. They have that Interpol feel to them but with their own twist. I'm really into new wave influenced music these days.

Guns N' Roses - Greatest Hits

I always buy the CDs of bands I love. I feel they deserve it rather than me downloading them.

Iron Maiden - Edward the Great (Greastest Hits)

I was at Best Buy picking up Oblivion, and I happened to have a gift card. I didn't have much Maiden on my comp because I has recently reformatted, so I said what the hell and bought it. It's one of my favorite CDs, and the live version of Fear Of The Dark is awesome.

CD: Dragonforce - Sonic Firestorm

Why?: Because Dragonforce kicks ass, and Inhuman Rampage isn't out in America yet.

I bought 3 CD's last time I was out. Black Sabbath's System of the Universe was the first one because it had most of their best songs and I didn't have anything from them.

Then I bought Blue Oyster Colt's Don't Fear the Reaper and it isn't the greatest but I wanted to hear some of their other stuff instead of Burning for You and Don't Fear the Reaper.

Last I bought Journey's Greatest Hits because it's Journey. I like them but I didn't want to buy any of their albums because some of their stuff isn't that great so I just played it safe. But when I got home I noticed on the back it said Super Audio CD and on a paper inside of the case it told me about it and how it could only be played on a Super Audio CD Player only. Never heard anything of them so I was pissed I wasted my money.

Yeah, you have to watch out for stuff like that. Back in the day (maybe about 2 years ago), I thought I had found a cheap Metallica CD and I bought it. Then, I arrived back at home and saw some small writing on the CD which said "{insert random band here} Performs Metallica". It wasn't actually a Metallica CD - it was just some guys trying to make money by recording Metallica songs.

Opeth - Ghost Reveries

Why? . . . It's Opeth, stupidhead. Harlequin Forest riff at the end is orgasmic. Ghosts of Perdition has amazing vocals. Atonement has amazing keyboard textures. Basically, because it's Opeth stupidhead.

Cool, another Opethian for EBW .

It's good to see that you like Pain of Salvation as well. Gildenlow is great. I think you and ConanTL are the only other people who like PoS.

Haha, nice avatar .

I was born in Sydney and I lived there until I was 12. Then I moved over to NZ, but I plan to move back sometime. I actually went back to Sydney and Victoria last holidays.

I really want to see Opeth at the end of this month - but I can't because it's R18, and I turn 18 five days after the concert :wah:.

That sucks. I turn 18 11 days after an Anthrax concert (6 days time!!!!!), but luckily I will have a friend with me who can buy me booze and the concert isn't 18+.

That probably won't make you feel better. Sorry.
