When I had my 6 string Ibanez SDGR (God, I miss that thing) I always used D'addario XL Nickel Wound strings. Always sounded nice, and maintained a nice twangy tone for a few months. Not the cheapest things in the world, considering a set for a 6 string bass was around $55.

But, that's my 2 cents. I never had one of those break on me.

D'Addario XL-170. All I've used, all I'll ever use.

If Ernie Ball makes shitty strings for bass, their guitar strings make up for it.

Dude, trust me, get RotoSounds... you will DEFINITELY not be disappointed. I've tried everything from GHS to DR to Blue Steels, and these ones have such a crisp and twangy tone. I've had em on my bass for over 4 months and they are just beginning to lose their twanginess. Get them.

Rotosounds, D'Addario and Ernie Ball are all good.

I got a pack of Fender 7350s Mediums. Every one told me to get these. They must be good because the place only had one pack left. I put them on and my bass sounded like a completely new bass. Plenty of punch. Plus red silk wrap looks pretty cool.

^Don't be fooled. Fender strings suck. They only last about a week or 2 before they start sounding like shit.
When I first got my fretless, I bought a set of Fender Flatwound strings for it. Within 2 weeks they were dead. I replaced them with a set of D'Addarios, they sound better and last longer.
