They're recording with Rick Rubin. Sounds like it could be promising if this happened like 10 years ago.
The only post-Black album I have is St. Anger so I'm going to have to pass on this question, although some of the singles from Load and Reload are okay.
Does Garage Inc count? I have that one and it's pretty good at times.

I'd say Reload, seconded by S&M.
I think Metallica fans are too critical of their post Black Album stuff.

No, for the most part, it just plain sucks in comparison.

Probably Load.
I actually like Black quite a lot - but I like it as a general rock album - I don't think of it as a Metallica thrash metal album because it's not a thrash album and it's not particularly good by Metallica standards. But it's a decent album.

I like S&M because I can watch Newstead's Sadowsky's and listen to the wonderful Bassoon solo on Battery.

St. Anger
The only other Metallica album I like is Kill Em All though.

There is no such thing as a good alum after the Black album.

Load/Reload. The Loads WERE good and interesting albums, regardless of how thrashy they were. Hell, I consider them as good as Master of Puppets.
St. Anger sucked, though.

The "red album"
filled with Motorhead covers
Its a rare album recorded at wiskey a go go
at Lemmy's birthday party.
Comes in a red sleave style case and comes with a poster one cd and guitar pick.
