Any fans of The Kinks here (as if that weren't the most cliché thing to ask)? I love them, and I think they are one of the most underrated bands of all time.

What's your favorite songs or album?

I love Shangri La and Waterloo Sunset. Plastic Man holds a special place in my heart too, although I don't consider it quintessential Kinks.

Why aren't The Kinks more popular? I guess it's because everyone assumes they are rip offs of The Beatles, but that's not true. The Kinks are way better (although The Beatles are great too). Most of their songs were actually about something that mattered.

Well that's where you're wrong dude. The Kinks are amazing, but there is a reason why the Beatles blew every other British invasion band out of the water, they were simply better.

The Beatles were great, I won't deny that, but they blew every other band out of the water because for every great song they did, they did two poppy love songs.

I love them, I'd have to think too hard to come up with a favorite right now. I went to Atlanta to see them in concert, the One For the Road tour, I think(this was around 1980, so I'm kinda fuzzy:bigwink: .)

Ray Davies was interviewed on Fresh Air (http://www.npr.org/templates/rundowns/rundown.php?prgId=13&prgDate=3-Apr-06) a week or so ago, I always love hearing him talk.

Speaking of The Kinks, does anyone know who remade the "All Day and All Night Long" song? It's not a cover, as they created new words. It was more of a parody than anything else.
