:dunce:

Sorry about the thread title guys, I just wanted attention.

TOMMY EMMANUEL

http://www.woodsongs.com/showlist.asp

Scroll down to 349 and download the video, there's also Tommy vids at 289 and 245.

It's funny watching him trying to be so humble all the time. His tapping harmonic stuff and percussive techniques are unbelievable. He never misses a note, and he always play both bass and guitar parts. He is a freak.

Make sure to check out his Classical Gas about halfway through vid 349. PS Vid is about 170mb and goes for over an hour. He is a one-man show of pure awesomeness.

Yes, Tommy Emmanuel is quite the awesome guitarist. My dad died when I was 12; but for some reason I remember him saying that the greatest guitarist ever, was Tommy Emmanuel. He's Australian too .

Chris Impellitteri and Michael Angelo Batio.

Michael Angelo Batio.

No. Bad. All he does is tap and play the same scale again. Just like that Paul Gilbert dude. And neither of them have any emotion in anything I've heard them play. I would love to see a video or hear something to prove me wrong. :)

I wasn't actually saying he's the best guitarist in the world, I was just joking, as these threads are mind-numbingly cliche. I just hope to God you check out the video if you're saying people like Michael Angelo.

They may be repetitve and boring, but both Batio and Gilbert have more raw playing ability then just about any other player out there.

... You don't have to have much 'raw playing ability' to tap and to play a scale you learned a while ago and switch it up a bit.

I think it's harder to play a less technical solo in which you really make your guitar 'sing' so to speak, than to shred at the speed of light (which is still pretty fucking cool).

Incorrect.

Your just mad because you haven't learned your instrument completely and you are frustrated with people who have. Its ok big guy, youll get there.

Yep, we go back a ways. What was your nickname in highschool again? Ol' slow fingers?

Well, personally, my favourite guitarist is John Frusciante of the Chilis, whose playing I consider to be on a level of its own.

But I wouldn't go ahead and say he's the best guitarist in the world. Definitely not, if you're going for technicality anyway.

^^ nice quote!

Tom Morello has to be mentioned here. It sometimes sounds like his guitar is a person talking gibberish. Like on "Bulls On Parade" and "The Worm" by Audioslave.

And Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge, formerly Creed, is underrated.

I wouldn't say he's the best, but joe satriani. I played his stuff first before i heard it. Tears in the rain. Then i heard War and Friends and was hooked ever since. Especially the stuff he plays with steve vai and john petrucci at g3.

Wrong. Jazz guitarists were doing it long before him.

A lot of people won't agree with me, but in my opinion it would have to be Brian May from Queen. He's an awesome guitar player. I think the main thing that makes him unique, is that he has a very over the top symphonic sound and no other guitarist sounds like him. That's my opinion. Listen to the albums "A Night At THe Opera" and "Queen II". Those albums really show off how talented he is.

I think it's Jimmy Page.
And as for Hendrix, his nickname was Jimi (one m).

There is no best guitarist.
My favorite is Dave Gilmour of the Pink Floyd.

John5. He may be a midget freak but he is awesome as hell on guitar. He is one of the most original guitarists out there. His combination of country picking and metal is kick-ass.

Thanks . But which quote do you mean? The nerdy physics on or matt_'s one?

And Mark Tremonti is pretty underrated because people instantly associate him with Creed. He is a pretty decent guitarist.
