Weak, I guess I'll just wait for the new PC games to out. The lighting and textures are absolutely pathetic. Even games out now on PC's have better lighting effects and textures.

i'm talking about the control mechanism, and overall experience. you want the latest and greatest graphics? buy the newest video card. nintendo's about to make fools out of sony and ms.

While the graphics are pretty impressive, although we can't really tell yet.

the physics looks incredible, and if the PS3 is going to be anything like sony promised, it could be extremely powerful.

But as consoles go Nintendo Revolution is looking like it may come out of nowhere, and win the next gen console war. and it'll only have roughly twice the power of the xbox1. xbox 360 is way over rated at the moment, PDZ sucked pretty badly, ghost reacon.. ijust don't see what people see in the game, looks very boring and nothin new. oblivion... eh...

Impressive video though.

That's just a tech demo, ps3 graphics once its mid way into its life will be leaps and bounds better than that, and it won't cost 6000$, it will be the same price as the xbox360.
And sure, pc graphics will always be a step above console graphics, but whats the point if you need a 7000$ pc which won't even run the latest games at full capacity without lag, and will be outdated in 2 months. atleast consoles have atleast a 4 year lifespan.
when ps3 comes out the graphics on it will still be better than most modern pc's, to get better graphics you will need to new line of graphics cards coming out next year which would be too expensive to even bother with.

To me both Ps3 and Xbox 360 are good systems. I have an xbox 360 and a Ps2. The 360 can be boring at times. So when the 360 gets boring I play Ps2.

its a video from a PC w/ an add-on Ageia PhysX card.

IF the PS3 is as promised then look out. However, I really agree about the Revolution, the NGC gave me some surprises(RE4, Soul Calibur etc.)and I'm waiting to see what the Twilight Princess will look like when completed. All said and done let's see what they all show up with when they're available. Oil spillage was great though, PC or not.

I need a few rumors clarified:

1. PS3 comes out in November/December
2. Halo 3 comes out next March
3. Halo 3 only on 360?
4. Next GTA game?

This not ps3 hardware nor is a video card. It's completely new type of hardware basically designed for pc graphics exceleration.

PhysX processor: a specialized accelerator dedicated solely to delivering rich immersive physical gaming environments with features such as:

Explosions that cause dust and collateral debris
Characters with complex, jointed geometries for more life-like motion and interaction
Spectacular new weapons with unpredictable effects
Cloth that drapes and tears the way you expect it to
Lush foliage that sways naturally when brushed against
Dense smoke & fog that billow around objects in motion

so no its not going in the ps3 and will be out for public purchase some time in the near future. I think prices are somewhere in the area of 200 to 400 dollars, not exactly sure though.

THIS IS WHAT THE VIDEO IS DEMONSTRATING (http://physx.ageia.com/)

Its basically like a graphics card only it concentrates entirely on Physics.

But Due to the PS3's 7 cpu cores, one of these cores can easily be used to run physics calculations, so ps3 will still have good physics.

you can pre-order it from several vendors and dell is already shipping systems with it pre-installed.

the video linked to at the beginning of this thread is really crap compared to a lot of the stuff that the card can really do. too bad no one will use it cause its too freaking expensive.

Besides another thing as well is that the first batch of games to come out with along with a console are never as good as the final ones they make. Take a look at the recent consoles that are now outdated and the games at first until the end...for example (since I'm playing it right now...) Onimusha in comparison to the 3rd one...huge difference? I'd say so...so just keep in mind that the first couple (or several whatever) aren't actually going to be the determining factor to the consoles power.

ps3 incorporates the pysX physics engine as qouted on the last paragraph of this aritcle
" Of particular note is the AGEIA physics video, which illustrates why the extension to the PS3 platform makes so much sense (built-in PhysX support is one of Sony's most touted next-generation features) " http://ps3.ign.com/articles/701/701636p1.html
if you watch the game video, you see the PhysX logo before the game trailor starts.

zOMFG, a card that only does physics, hody shit, that's so worth it, easily duplicated on a CPU, i remember playing psy ops, for xbox and that has the best use of physics i've ever seen.

the cards not been used on the Xbox360, the xbox360 can only use a limited version of PhysX software (ps3 can use full).

yes exactly, PS3 incorporates AGEIA's PhysX hardware engine, which means that it supports it. PhysX should in no way be linked to the name Sony as Sony did nothing to contribute or develop the PhysX engine as the title suggests.

There is a benchmark somewhere where ATI uses the x1800 technology to do exactly what AGEIA did and it is faster, just do not have the link right now. A GPU devoted to computing physics as opposed to the conventional CPU doing it... I have no idea why Sony decided to use PhysX on PS3 as it has a multi-core CPU, can't one of the core be programmed to do just physics?
