Censorship

One of the things I personally like about this forum and its community is its lack of censorship. This allows people to speak their minds without much worry of moderator intrusion. In fact, ******dly, this forum seems--

And here we have it--censorship. above, the word "Outwar" has been cruelly censored, yet I do not know why. With further search, terms such as "albinoblacksheep", too, are censored. I think this is wrong.Sure, we can get around the censor (as I did above by using font colors), but we should not have to. If, in the flash animation section, someone finds a particularly funny link on albinoblacksheep, they should be able to post it without problem instead of getting a link that says http://www.****************.com/funny_flash_movie.

So my question is this--why is eBaum so concerned? Is he afraid that albinoblacksheep may be a better web site and that people will migrate over there? Is he afraid that they will launch a nuclear attack to his house? Is he mad at them because they stole his teddy bear when he was a child?
And what about Outwar? All I can find is a MMORPG--hardly 'bad material'. So why is it censored?

I think that censorship of any kind is wrong. And I am sure that the forumers here will agree--we are a community of diverse groups, differing ideals, and flowing ideas--we should not be censored because we found something on a competing web site.

I completely agree, but here's the reason why he did it:

Stupid flamers coming here from other sites posting their shit everywhere and saying "OUR SITE IS BETTER" or "PUT THIS ON YOUR SITE" and it got really annoying after a while.

After a little googling and scanning some resources, I finally read the wiki and got the whole story. See, in the MMORPG Outworld, your main objective in the game is for others to click your "secret link". Often times on forums a player will disguise their secret link as something else, and when clicked, money is given to the player. It's a mindless cycle of trying to fool others into clicking a link that will give you money. On more than one site people have censored ****** for that reason.

Out-ware is banned because people used to link to their shitty game site things and make us vote for them, the name is banned so that we don't unwittingly do it again (via the member changing the link name)

Everything else is banned because it's eBaums site and he can do what he wants... hell, he could make the forums dedicated to flying horses named Buttercup if he wanted and we'd have no right to stop him.

Also, it might be because linking to rival sites (ABS, SA, YTMND, etc.) is pretty much against the rules... if you don't like it, we don't care.

This forum is not a dimocrasy (forgive the spelling) It's a dictatorship and Eric is the leader, we do what he say's or leave... simple as.

You make your own forum and you can censor whatever the hell you want. This is Ebaum's forum, he pays the bills, so can censor what he wants.
