The dog on bike was cool, but I've noticed this in ever Japanese TV show clip I've ever seen, why are their tv shows so weird? They always have the weirdest facial expressions, there's always people watching back at a studio laughing like crazy and a bunch of Japanese words always pop up everywhere. I don't understand why their tv shows are just so high strong and energetic either but they're always doing something out of the ordinary.

The only reason why Japanese people are weird is for the same reason that any other country seems weird.
You're just not used to their culture.
I'd say generally, the typical Japanese person is timid and respectful.
Or at least, if they are hardcore cultured japanese people, they should be.
Japan is a very clean area... I've been there, sure, it has some bad stuff like any city would. But if you take a look, go into any town or city, you'll find that the place is very clean. They have rules to beautify Japan for tourists, and they've kept to their job. The place is very clean.
As for the people's personality. The girls always seem so "tee hee ha ha" and shit right? I would of thought they always try to act cute and innocent and shit, maybe its part of how they grew up for most of them. Being respectful and timid, the least they could do is laugh right?
AS for the TV shows and commercials and such. As I sed before, culture plays a big influence on how things appear.
You think African cultures are weird, native american stuff too don't you?
Well, if you were in their shoes, American shit looks very stupid.
Hell i think a lot of American shows seem stupid too, especially the commercials.
And since when did people get so much freedom?
Only in America....

Before the 2nd world war, Japan was all super-tranquil and quiet with people eating little bowls of rice sat by koi ponds ... etc......
then they discovered television/radio etc and went all mental and over the top with it, a bit like a kid with a new toy, :ahhh: they'll get over it soon.... :rollseyes

Look, i live in Holland and the one thing that bothers me is that most of the people here only listen to American music, becouse that is known as... "hip" or "in" you know? And it's not that I want to be a racist but most music video's we see are the same: 10 black women, 1 black man, the black man is rapping (which sounds absolutely terrible, you CANNOT call that music) and the women are doing an erotic dance while the black man bites his lip and checks out there asses. And thanks to those kinda video's, everyone here (not only black ppl white ppl 2) are trying to ACT like them becouse they get the idea that the whole "gangsta" attitude is "IN". We humans have a born instinct of following eachother and choosing a certain style. It's in our subconcious mind. NOW, what these so-called GANGSTA's do here is DISS everyone they see, talk like THEY are the best in everything and diss people that don't dress or act like "gangsta's". They don't seem to understand that music isn't a way of life, music is something you listen to. They seem to think rap-artists as hero's and they take their Roles, Goals and missions. I'm just trying to tell everyone that i think people are dissing other people 2 much here in Holland and becouse they just ACT like the rappers they see on video's. They take their WHOLE act/show and it becomes a habit. Who knows maybe these "rappers" are different in real life (don't think so), but on video's they are being 2 immature, selfish, ego and especially rude against other people and THAT is the ACT/SHOW people here in Holland are stealing.
I know i can't do much about it but i wanted to see what you guys in the US think about this.
Somebody probably saw the skateboarding dog and wanted to one up by putting a dog on a bicycle. I'd like to teach my dog how to do that, then I could go around the country making money off a stunt.

dude, i totally agree with you. I think the most tragic thing about american globalization is the music/entertainment take-over. I would be SO pissed if everyone in AMerica was listening to some sort of hypothetical lame Dutch shit and then all celebreties and movies I started to hear about were Dutch (or anywhere else). Then when all home-grown bands started trying to sound "Dutch" or whatever to be IN and COOL that would be unbearable.
It kind of is that way here actually. I hate hip-hop music, gangsta rap, and the whole black image in AMerica. But it's all #1 in the charts. It's like, who the fuck likes this stuff? Predominantly middle/lowerclass negro folk and the hordes of suburban white kids who think it's cool and want to fit in, that's who. Holland is just a confused little 14 year old white kid named "Doug" with his hat on sideways and a tendancy to say "yeeeah booii!" a lot.
I'm sorry that you guys and other countries absorb and embrace the tasteless shit we produce on studio conveyor belts. You're prob as helpless in preventing it as we are. word out my netherlandizzle

Are you denying this is true? He's just stating a fact that everyone knows is true about Japanese TV. Doesn't reflect at all being culture-bound.

First of all, the original poster stated an opinion, not a fact. And yes, he/she is terribly culture-bound as you also seem to be. Ask anyone from East Asia who grew up watching Japanese TV shows (like myself). I don't find the behavior of the people on the show "weird" or "high-strung." Their facial expressions and actions seem perfectly normal to me.
It's like when I first watched American TV shows (ie. Friends). I thought to myself, why do they use those annoying, fake-sounding laugh tracks in the background? I also didn't laugh once because I didn't get the humor. But after repeated viewings, I can enjoy american shows now without finding them weird.

No wait, I'm not culture-bound or anything like you say, it's just American shows are just a little more laid back and slower paced. Japanese TV shows are much more fast paced andd energetic. Not once did I mention culture in any of this.

If that isn't annoying fake-sounding laugh track going on the ENTIRE time of the dog on bike vid, I don't know what is.
