Okay, so it may be a very old clip on ebaums. A very old documentary of a mentally disabled girl handles her upcoming period with family by her side.

This short 10 minute documentary called "All women have periods" (1979) has a strange looking dog in it, no?
When I first saw it I was wondering about the dog. Like what the hell, it's blue? Well I finally figured out for all curious of that weird dog in the movie:

His name is "Dogma." Watch carefully for his short appearance in the film. He is actually a mutant dog! He can not have the same color of fur as other do, so turns out Dogma has a light blue fur coat. Not just that, but he also no discernable facial anatomy. Dogma's face is twisted and what one would call messed. He has no face anatomy what so ever.

I think you should be told about your period before getting it. Tho at 9 or 10 you should be able to be told you will bleed and it is ok so when it happens put a pad on. I do not think a used pad is needed in the talk.

I think it would be less shocking samantha. Even if the child is aware it will happen one day, I think they could feel very upset and insecure if it happened at school without the parents around for example.

Perhaps a lot of kids wouldn't like to see a bloody tampon but it would significantly reduce the initial shock in my opinion.

Then again, some kids might want to see a bloody tampon. Who knows, they might be really hungry and eat it.
