Personally it's my favorite kind of music.
I play Trombone so It's natural that I play and listen to alot of Jazz.

Anyhows, my favorites are Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Charles Mingus and Count Basie.

Tell me what you think about Jazz, do you like it or do you hate it?

Although I really respect jazz, I don't really like it very much. Although I really love the technical proficiency, jazz often seems to be "unguided" to me. By that I mean, many times the songs seem to have no point. Just my opinion.

I like Louis Armstrong though.

I adore Pat Metheny, Weather Report, Al di Meola, John McLaughlin; although mabye they are Fusion not jazz, so perhaps I do not like jazz at all.

Jazz is one of the greatest forms of music ever. I love it.

And it started in America.

Old jazz is great. I play at the jazz band at my school. We play big band swing, that stuff is fun. Alot of jazz is horrible to me though. They are trying to be innovative and atonal when, but to me its devoid of any type of mood or attitude

Jazz is a very noble genre of music - I like it, even if I don't listen to it that often. I seem to prefer fusion (including Atheist which is fusion metal). My favourites:

Jaco Pastorius & Weather Report
Charles Mingus
Pat Metheny
Marcus Miller
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Herbie Hancock
John Coltrane
Miles Davis
John Patitucci
Thelonious Monk
Eddie Lang

Duke is the best jazz composer in my opinion. Anyways, jazz is a really fun genre of music to play and listen to. Which isn't really popular now adays..

I don't care for jazz, too abstract for me. I ate at Panera Bread tonight, and they always play jazz. It drives me crazy.

I think jazz is just a genre that is cool to like for music snobs. Even if you don't like jazz, you better pretend you do so people on the internet think you're smart. Kinda like prog.

Pretentious bullshit aside, I like the actual music, cause it's got soul.

The thing I really love about jazz is that it's almost impossible to find a jazz musician who isn't talented. For example, take rock. There are millions of rock bands. Some are good, some aren't. Regardless of your personal taste, anyone who knows anything about music can tell when a band is talented and with rock music there are a LOT of very un-talented bands.
Outside of rock, to make my point more direct, take Aretha Franklin. I don't like her music, but anyone with ears will tell you she is an incredibly talented and gifted singer.
With jazz, there are lots of artists who I don't really like because of personal taste, but I can't think of a single jazzer who is bad at what they do. It seems that it's just a more demanding genre.
Jazz = Talent

BTW--BigMatt & Hydro...could you give me the names of some good Brubeck songs/albums?? I've heard nothing but good things about that guy but never actually heard his music. I'm intrigued.

Something I really like about jazz, is the brotherhood where the musicians/bands all get on (apart from Kenny G :D).
