Hello people of the forum! Ive lurked here quite a while and I finally got the inspiration to sign up. Ive come to a lot of good bands through you guys. Bands like: Strapping Young Lad, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Pain of Salvation, and more. I want to thank you guys for that.
Now to the purpose of this thread...Ive listened to some pretty heavy stuff and I was wondering what was the heaviest song you guys knew. Now by heavy, I mean powerful instrumentals and at least comprehensible lyrics, none of that growling stuff.
Personally I think Norma Jean's songs are probably the heaviest, yet barely understandable.
Contribute your thoughts and songs.
Thanks again guys. :D
Sorry, but Im not sure how to make that long part into a paragraph...

The answer is obviously Manowar.
It's been scientifically proven.

I posted this in the other thread... but in my mind, Candlemass - Solitude is pretty heavy. I consider doom to be heavy in its own way.

Pelican- Mammoth (title says it all)
Explosions in the Sky- Greet Death
Mogwai- Glasgow Mega Snake
Fear Factory- Self Bias Resistor
Godflesh- christbait rising, Xnoybis
also on their website under the mp3s there's the last live performance from them and it is incredibly heavy sounding one of the best live sounding bands.
King Crimson- 21st century schizoid man(especially for it's time of release)
Swans- Half-Life, A Screw

Yeah, it is pretty heavy considering it was released in 1969. King Crimson is great.

I would say most Rammstein songs are some of the heaviest stuff I've heard.

For heavy lyrics, listen to Demilich.

Probably Bathory's "A Fine Day to Die", Morbid Angel's "Chapel of Ghouls" or something from Death's "Leprosy" album.... just off the top of my head.

You might like Samael's "Rain" or "Baphomet's Throne"
The lyrics are growly, but no more so than the bands you listed and they're definetely comprehensible.

You look very new to death metal if you're saying Behemoth is the most brutal. Personally I can decipher all of their lyrics on the new material fairly easily.

Mahavishnu put out some heavier stuff around the same time, Zeppelin did also. They also have a song called "Thela Hun Ginjeet" that's heavier than 21st centurdasdf/..... whatever.

Thanks, no problemo .
For heavy lyrics, listen to Demilich.
Where can I get hold of some Demilich? I've been trying to get some for about half a year now.

I agree with Temp about doom metal being one of the heaviest genres in it's own way. My vote goes to "Without God" by Katatonia. Probably the heaviest song, lyrically and musically, I have heard.
Human Birds Watch The Sky
Where Dark Formations Sail
Infecting The Area of God
Jhva Elohim Meth
I Am God - Creator of Life
I Am God - Enchanter of Death
Death That Now Marks You
Life That Slowly Pass Away
Screams of Fear Dismembering The Wind
Helpless Souls Drowning In Pain
But Storms of Dawn, A new Age
A Dawn Without God
My Spirit Filled With Hate Sets Free
A Force of The Golden Dawn
Without God...Entomb Your Fear
The Spirit Is Free
Jhva Elohim Meth
Satan Laughs
Jhva Elohim Meth
I Raise My Fist To The Sky
Swear The Ancient Oath of Black
The Lambs Shall Bleed, Eternally Bleed
God Is Dead and Shall Forever Be...
