Finally, a poll comparing bands that actually makes sense.
Myself, I don't really listen to much of either, but of what I have listened to, I'd say RATM.

Audioslave. IMO, Rage was just rap to distortion.

I'm gonna go with Audioslave. I like both bands, but Audioslave has some songs that are just awesome. Rage has some pretty awesome songs as well, but I still like Audioslave more.

Only a truely ignorant person would say audioslave, RATM is far superior in every aspect. rage shits on audioslave.

not in this case.
Rage for sure. Audioslave is a great band too, it's awesome to hear the same musicians try out different stuff (especially with a kickass singer), but too many of their songs sound the same/similar. Like they're sticking too closely to a specific sound. Good stuff though.

yeah, while going through all the audioslave songs on itunes, they all sounded similar, while the songs by ratm all have unique and distinctive sounds

Now, the thing is I cant argue this statement. Its not that what you said is true, its that I find certain amounts of stupidity and arrogance impossible to argue with. Congratulations.

Definitely Rage Against the Machine. They were dynamic, exciting and FULL TO THE BRIM with ANGER.
But they had some cool guitarwork and effects, awesome basslines, some really funky drumming and something worth talking about.
I wouldn't call Audioslave a bad band, but they do seem a bit mediocre at times. Especially in comparison with one of the greatest bands of the 90s.

Nah, I'm pretty sure he knows. I just find that they don't really work to their full potential in Audioslave.
Anyway, I've rambled on enough in my above post :D.

RATM because they aren't as boring. And Chris Cornell's voice sucks now.
When I saw Audioslave, there was comparatively no crowd movement when they played the audioslave songs. There was a proper pit during Killing in the name! At an Audioslave concert!

Audioslave. But only slightly, because I like Chris Cornell a lot. Rage is great too. I have every album both bands have made except for the Renegades - 3 Rage, plus 2 Audioslave (plus 2 Soundgarden, which is better than both).
Out of Exile was a big improvement for Audioslave IMO. If you haven't listened to that CD at least once through, I don't think you can give an informed opinion that they are "mediocre". It's a crying shame that CD wasn't even nominated for best rock album at the Grammy's. And they did get a nomination for "Doesn't Remind Me", quite possibly the weakest song on the album. That song is a prime example of these guys not realizing their potential - it's like a song that Bert, Ernie, and Elmo would do if they were in a band ("I like driving backwards in the park cause it doesn't remind me of anything...I won't lie no more you can bet" - Come on, Chris!) I really don't understand the people who choose and vote on the Grammy's.

Well, you may want to try out more funk/funky rock like the Red Hot Chili Peppers (old albums) and Faith No More. Both have good basswork with (sometimes) rapped vocals. You might want to try Infectious Grooves and Incubus (old albums) as well.

ahh, incubus, another of my favourite bands, yeah the older chillis and FNM is pretty funky, i'll check out infectious grooves for sure

Of course i know everyone but Zack is in audioslave. wtf are you thinking? I wouldn't dislike audioslave so much if i didn't know they all used to be in such an amazing band. and now they are in such a mediocre one.

Should've included Soundgarden. I gotta say, Soundgarden is the best of all three. I'm not a fan of grunge in the least, but I think Soundgarden is an awesome band.

Soundgarden is pretty good.
Audioslave is like 2/10.
RATM fucking ruled, I still listen to the self-titled.
