i have worked in an arcade for the past 7 years and i have grown to be a huge fan of arcade games. i even now own a couple. i just got donkey kong this weekend. with this little backstory comes the topic itself. whats your favorite arcade games and do you think arcades are really a dying breed? personally my two favorites are raiden fighters and vapor trx. and with my other question, i think unfortunatly arcades are a dying breed. with the way that consoles are looking now theres not a reason to walk down to the local arcade and play some sweet games. and a trend i've seen lately is stupid gimmicky games and not any good video games like the old days. so tell me your opinions.

When I was younger, I use to play Mortal Kombat all the time before they released it onto the SNES and SEGA. Those were the good old days. It gave me something to do while my mom was shopping.

I actually love more simple Arcade games such as Pac Man, Donkey Kong.

I do think the arcade market will die soon. It is really pointless in the present day. Back in the 1970s, it was something different and good for the video game industry because not everybody had a atari at home.

there use to be a site called Mame.dk and it had an almost unlimited amount of arcade roms, original arcade art, etc. to download for free. some people would actually build their own arcade stand to emulate the arcade experience. i use to have a shit load of original arcade roms, but most of it is gone due to the sudden death of my old laptop.
