I played WoW for over a year, had a blast. My account is going to expire in a few days, probably for good.

Actually, chances are I will get bored and get back into it. Sigh.

Meh, I dislike WoW, nothing in it makes it scream "Better then other MMOs!" it's just the same as all the others, but it has Warcraft in it's name, but in the end it's barely the Warcraft RTS players had come to love.

MMO in general are pretty boring, they are like having two jobs, I have my real life job, work hard to make money for real life expenses. Then I come home, start up let's say.. WoW, I get two choices, complete monster grind or mostly gathering quest grind for a long time to ultimately acheive a higher level of nothingness.

Now if MMO had actual depth to them, fullfilment, spending those hours would be a different story, but in the end you are just payin $14.95 a month to spend weeks or even month to gain max level and just a few pixels on the screen which we like to call "armor" and the like, once it's all said and done you realize the game was a waste of time and effort and you could have actually been living life, your life, making it better rather then taking the role of some useless character which you won't even care about 10 years from now.

MMO in a nutshell!

first off....thats a big fuckin nutshell. second off, I dont play it like most addicts like my friends. i do have a life outside the interweb and WoW, but i do these when im not out there....so i agree with u to a sense but not entirely....and no one's answered my question!!!

I have played Guild Wars and Guild Wars: Factions for almost 1000 hours and there is still a lot to do. Papero, everything that you complained about in your post, Guild Wars fixes. There is no grind if you don't want to grind, there are no monthly fees, and the game is based on player skill and intelligence, not who has a higher level and better armor.

I stopped playing for 5 months, but recently came back to it, It's fun when you take some time off, then go back to it, its like starting fresh all over again, plus the guides here are helping me a lot http://www.blizzardguides.com/

Overall though, im waiting for blizzards next game, whatever that will be, probably diablo3.

WoW looks good, and is fun leveling from 1 - 60, but its a horrible game overall when you hit level cap.

Vanguard: Saga of Hereos is supposed to be the next big MMO name and said to be EverQuest's successor!

Blizzard has added much more content over the past year, however, it's all really repetative, which is why it gets boring so quickly.

If you decide to try the high-end raiding scene, that too feels like it's more a job than gaming. Frankly the game is entertaining for about a month or two, but overtime it will become too easy.
