I am very fucking excited. Thursday is Senior Skip day, so me and a bunch of friends are all going to Cedar Point. We will be getting back around 11-12 ish, and we are gonna catch the midnight showing. And Friday is my 18th birthday, so ithats a hella awesome birthday present.

Been waiting 3 years for this movie. When I was in theaters watching X2, at the very begining during the Nightcrawler in the white house sequence, I actually remember thinking "Holy shit this is awesome! I cant wait for the next movie!!"

but them spiderman 1&2 and batman came out, and they were wicked, and my bf wanted me to see them..so i watched them.
it was probably the best decision of my life.

Yeah, I heard the same. Kinda disappointing. I loved the second one cause it had such a kick ass story on top of the amazing special effects. I hope the story is still decent. The effects will help out a lot.

I heard they have this new, never before used effect in the movie where they take Professor X and Magneto, and through some new CGI shit, make them look like they are younger. Its supposed to be pretty realistic and amazing, so Im excited to see that.

I saw that scene and it looked really cool. I thought they just put heavy make-up on them and dyed Magneto's hair, but even so, it still looks really good.

I'm definitely gonna see it, but I think I'm gonna have to wait a week or so. I saw the Da Vinci Code on opening night. BIG mistake, I ended up in the second row ALLL the way on the right side of the theater. I couldn't see shit and my neck hurt.

They could do the same thing that they did with Colossus in the second one. Hugh Jackman was on Conan last night and he mentioned that this is the last one, so I have a good feeling that he’ll be thrown in there.

So yeah, just got back... I liked it for what it was, action-packed and entertaining as hell, but... don't read the white text if you're going to see the movie. Jean dying once again, like she had been before, seeing Magneto regain some of his strengths after being stabbed with the cure, and the extra scene after the credits showing Patrick Stewart still alive kind of completely negated any progression they tried to show. I still thought it was an entertaining movie, but still, it was kind of a waste.

ok just got back from x3.....oh i'm sorry, the last bland. dont get me wrong, the movie had some very interesting elements and the idea of a mutant cure was great but so much more could have been done with, well, everything. i went into the movie having seen the first 2 and not being an avid reader of the comics but knowing enough about the characters and key elements of the world of x-men to notice some changes between the movie and books. also i read absolutely nothing online about the plot, characters, or spoilers (i like going in fresh with no expectations). overall, this movie just felt like one big tease to me. yes, there are some really great sequences and unexpected surprises but overall it just wasn't the movie it could have been. and god damnit if i see that god damn bald kid in another movie as "that weird looking kid who is special" i am gonna denounce hollywood (more than i already have) even more. oh and that scene after the credits better be payed off somehow.....

Like X-Men? Watch it. It's entertaining, but in the end it really is a shitty movie, especially compared to the first two.

I saw the midnight showing of X-men lastnight. Out of all three of the movies I liked this one the best. It had more action and more characters. But it was rather a dissapointment they either killed off main characters that had lots of speaking parts or didnt have some of the characters in the movie alot. Some of the characters were in like two scenes and didnt do much. Like rouge or Angel for example.I would have liked to see Angel more often because he's cool Halle Barry said she wouldnt do the movie unless she gets more speaking parts so you can expect her to be around alot. I guess she had to recover from the shitty catwoman movie she did. Remember near the beginning when baldy was showing a video of a guy in a hospital and talking about putting one person's soul into an unconscious body? At the end it shows the nurse next to the guy and the guy says "Hello [whatever her name is]" and she looks at him suprisingly and says "Charles?"

The movie was ok, eaisly the weakest of the three movies. It seemed to be filled with a bunch of good ideas, almost too many of them. They never took time to deal with anything. They touched down on a subject, and then had to rush to get the next one in. And a lot of the charecters deaths/power loss seemed pointless, almost like it was going against the message of the movie.

The action sequences were still pretty cool. They didnt have a great opening sequence like Nightcrawlers in X2, but still some cool ones. There was a very kick ass feeling when the X-Men finally stood up in front of all the evil mutants. One problem was I kept thinking "This whole battle is pointless, because Magneto could kill all these guys in two seconds..." but, trying to ignore that, it was still pretty sweet. Iceman vs. Pyro was short, but still cool to see what Iceman does. Watching Beast go kick some ass was also pretty cool. I was thinking what good could Kitty Pride possibly be in a battle like the one they were in, but they did a decent job of making her powers seem usefil.

Like the other two, there were a lot of parallels between real world stuff and the movie, which if you didnt notice, there is something very wrong with you. I really enjoyed that an action movie was taking the time to have a brain, but they didnt take enough time. So many things were tapped down on, but never fully discussed. There were parallels of whether someone could be cured of something like being gay or being deaf, but it wasnt as deep or impactful as X2. Like I said before, when certin mutants are cured, its like the writers didnt know where to go with it. Instead of making some big point about it, they kinda just forget about it.

The X-Men movies are a lot like Star Wars. The first one surprised everyone, cause it was something that could have been shit, but turned out pretty fucking cool. The second one surprised everyone even more, cause it was better then the first one in just about every way. Then the third one, still worthy of being part of the serise, but clearly lacking what the first two had.

Ok movie story wise, really cool action wise.

It really wasn't "the last stand". They left things open at the end as if they were going to make another (which would be cool but I don't know how they would fit everything together). I thought the winged guy would have a bigger part but he just had a few. Rogue (who was like a man character in the first one) was barely in it at all. Juggernaut was awesome. I liked that he was played by that one guy in Eurotrip.

All in all I thought it was a great movie. I wonder if the prequel about Wolverine will be good.

I don't know about Gambit but Nightcrawler wasn't in it because he doesn't like fighting. If you play the X3 game (and can tolerate the cutscenes) it will explain it. Well I never beat it either (couldn't stand the cutscenes) but he does talk about how he doesn't like fighting.

For a summer action movie, it was pretty good, but for an X-Men movie, it was really bad. The best part, for me, was just being able to see some of the characters on screen. I thought Beast looked amazing. He was the only one, besides Nightcrawler, that instantly made me think of the old cartoon show. I also liked seeing Iceman actually turn into Iceman. Angel and Colossus looked really good too. I was pretty happy about those guys. I think that the movie would have been better if they employed more hard core X-men to do the fighting. I mean really who wants to see a fuckin high school love triangle in the team that's suppose to save mutant kind. The team needed wolverine, iceman, storm, beast, cyclops, GAMBIT, and colossus, keep the kids out of the fight.

The whole "cure" idea was kind of stupid. They should have had the story about the Sentinels

Alright for eveyone asking where Gambit was here is the reason why he wasn't in it:

Josh Holloway was offered the role of Gambit, but turned it down because the character was too similar to his character on "Lost" (2004). As a result, the character was never added to the film since this would have been a special cameo put in later had Josh decided to sign on.

Just saw the movie and it had a lot of potential and probably would have been tons better if Singer was directing. I hate how they introduced these characters (at least they gained a more prominent role) but they weren't explored any. A love triangle was hinted but wasn't explored. They didn't really explore as much of the Jean Grey / Phoenix struggle as much as they could have. Of course it really wouldn't be possible to do them all in the movie but it seemed like they just tried to fit too much into the movie so much that they ended up having nothing in the end. There wasn't any lead up to anything.
That part was disappointing, but I still thought it was enjoyable to watch and thought the action scenes were pretty good, but it had the potential to be the best of the trilogy and it fell flat.

People keep mentioning that the cure doesnt work, or its only temporary. I thought that last scene was just supposed to be symbolic. The entire movies is about changing ones genes and DNA, and how right/wrong it is. I think that last scene with Magneto was just them trying to say you are what you are, and no one or no thing can ever change that.

And the film makers have said numerous times that X3 was the last one. They wouldnt kill off main charecters and take away other peoples powers if they were planning on a 4th. They are likely going to do spin offs, but none of them have been 100% confirmed. Most likely would be on Storm and Wolverine, but I think a movie on Magneto as a boy, starting in the concentration camp where the first movie started would be the best movie. A lot of political statements possible with that storyline.

And yeah, I noticed R. Lee Ermeys voice, but I didnt like it. It didnt actually sound like him, it sounded like someone doing an impression of him. And his voice over was completely useless. They could have shown all that through just the images, they didnt need some guy yelling "Get rid of metal. No metal. We will only use pastic. They cant use plastic against us. No metal. No metal." The auidence isnt made of complete retards, I'm sure people would be able to pick up on what was going on without him yelling it out.

Yes there is one, it has already been said by the makers that there is one currently in the making. He explained that the reason this was called "The Last Stand" was because it was kind of a closing to this SAGA of X-Men. Where some characters die, relationships develope, and things like that. But he said there will definately be a 4th.

Meh, it was ok. Could have done alot better, due to many reasons stated in this thread already.

I think that in either 4 or 5, they will bring in Onslaught. For those of you who dont know him, he is basically what happens when Magnetos and Xaviers consciousness combines and takes a physical form. He becomes the most powerful mutant ever created in X-men((Every superhero in the marvel series fought him, and even Apocalypse couldnt beat him))

So ya, that would be interesting. And I am also looking forward to the prequal about Wolverine.

There simply are no more X-Men movies coming. I thought it was pretty obvious the way the movie ended that it was done. Most the main mutants either die or lose their powers. And that whole "AW ITS OPEN ENDED! THEY HAVE TO MAKE A SEQUEL" bull. Almost EVERY movie is open ended. You could say fucking Forrest Gump was open ended. Doesnt mean they did it to make a sequel. They did it so they wouldnt piss all the fans off ending on a down note.

All the talk about X4 came BEFORE they filmed X3. There was lots of speculation that they would film X3 and X4 back to back, but that was when Bryan Singer was involved. When he dropped, so did that plan.

Sure, 10, 15, 20 years from now, someone might make an X-Men film. But it will be just like Batman: Begins or the new Superman movie. The same material only taken in their own direction. Not a single person for this X-Men trilogy will have anything to do with any new X-Men movies.

Yeah, all the link says is that there will be more spinoffs, which I have already said. There will be a Wolverine movie. There might be a Storm movie. There might be a Magneto movie. Even if these happen, none of them are included in the X-Men trilogy that just ended. A Wolverine movie wont basically be X4, it will basically be a Wolverine movie. Thats why its called a spin off. The cure couldn't be permanent, they would have to re-write their genetic code, which would kill them, just like the senator was killed in the 1st one, even though he went the opposite way. Or they could make a virus, but then what if wolverine got this "cure", what would happen to him?

yes he's a mutant, his ability is fast healing, and he was born with them claws in his arms. the reason he had the metal on his bones is because he could withstand the trauma associated with it. if he got the cure his claws wouldn't go away, just his healing factor.

born with his claws? I thought that his mutant ability was just 'quick healing' and all the metal was implanted along with the retractable claws to make him indestructable considering his claws could extract in between his knuckles cutting him everytime and he would instantly heal himself.

Plus I remember him having animal like characteristics like sense of smell and hearing.

Well, the power loss only takes place when they are near him, and its only temporary, so they could just leave him by the kids during regular class (where no one needs their powers), and move him away from the kids when they do need their powers. And, the ending seemed like they were trying to say people have accepted the mutants, the world is at peace, so a break in wouldnt be likely.

Look, two things

The movie isnt shitty, it was ok. Not the best one, but look, it could have been like the Hulk or Fantastic 4...so be happy with that. It was fun.

Another thing, they set up a sequel, there might not be one planned yet, but if it makes money Hollywood WILL make a #4.

xmen4 will involve forge/bishop and time travel..no way would they kill off main characters like cyclops,professor x etc..the dangeroom had sentinels in it which professor x was told about to get them ready if he were to be killed

I found this movie to be too much like Star Wars in a CGI perspective....

...and Bret Rattner. I thought another director would of been better for this movie...."The Rat" is looking for more of a laugh than a good movie. He tried Way too hard on this movie...and it shows. Personally i wish the director of the 1 an 2 had made this movie instead of letting Rat do it.

I've been working on a little theory about the cure. Contains spoilers and moments of genius. Don't highlight if you (A) Haven't seen the movie and plan to and/or (B) Are intimidated by awesomeness.

Right, I haven't checked on any other message boards or sites, so this theory could've already been brought up, and I just don't know about it. But I did make the connections on my own, so even if it has been, that oughta lend a little more credibility to it.
See, the thing that gets me is the fact that Mystique went to the police or whoever and put them on the wrong trail by sending them to the campsite with that guy who can clone himself. (Don't remember his name.)
It's not so much that she was still loyal to Magneto. That much I could understand were it simply the case. But as we'd seen earlier, Magneto'd left her 'cause she'd gotten the cure and turned human. As a viewer, I was left to assume that this effectively ended his dealings with her.
But how then, could she have known enough of the plan to carry it out? Surely this was not a contingency upon which Magneto would have planned. It seems unlikely that she would have approached him again or that he would have gone back to her, though these aren't completely out of the question.
But what I choose to believe (Driven, though not exclusively, by the facts that it fits together and makes me feel like a detective and also opens up the door for more sequels with mutants who got the cure) is that the cure was only temporary - as the final shot with Magneto seems to indicate - that she regained her powers and then went back to Magneto, who, seeing the opportunity, had her go to the authorities while transformed into human form and point them towards the diversion.

It should also be noted that I just woke up from a nap and I'm still a little out of it, so there's a good chance I left out an important part or two. Any such instances, feel free to point out, and I'll try to resolve them.

We go to the movies to be entertained. And you can also make a 'moral' out with sentinels, because the person who made the sentinels is evil and built them to exterminate mutants. You can figure out the rest...

And I do think the cure will be made temporary...the boy in the movie that was responsible for the cure was Leech.

Leech can dampen or outright negate the powers of any mutant near him for an undetermined amount of time.
The 'cure' will eventually wear off like it did for Magneto. Or atleast I think...

My idea for the movies that I think would be the best would be..
X-Men 4 Sentinels
X-Men 5 Mr. Sinister
X-Men 6,7,8 Apocalypse Trilogy

I know, I know, "8 movies? that's a lot", but they'll make money, and there's no reason to stop coming out with them while they're bringing in money. Hell, with how long the X-men comics have been out there's an endless amount of possibilities. The only thing stopping them from making more is...well they fucked up by killing Jean and Scott. But they can just make shit up. Just say that the Phoenix kept Jean alive and that Jean pushed scott into the forest (we never saw him die) and he got knocked unconsiounce(sp?).


They need to make the movies longer too. Atleast 150+ minutes.

the movie felt rushed and had a lot of cliche moments. then again, it's hard to squeeze in the whole X-men story into 2-3hrs of film. i give it a score of: B-meh.
