Yes! It's finally coming out. I've been waiting for this film since the first time I saw Clerks. Hopefully this will be a good movie.

Not black and white, mainstream actors, shooing away from the whole premisis of the first...and the story looks absolutely horrid and it doesnt look funny.
FUCK I feared this, this movie looks horrible.

Fuck, man. I didn't even realize that until now...

doesnt look funny.
The first film was in black and white simply because of the budget. Also, their lack of proper lighting ultimately forced them to do black and white to make it look better. As for "mainstream actors," the only one I spotted was Rosario Dawson.
As for "shooing away from the whole premise of the first," how so? The first movie was about two young losers sitting at a store and having detailed discussions on pop culture as well as getting in some bizzare situations on occasions. This movie...is about those same losers doing the same thing, but at a burger joint.
I'll let you have the rest of your thoughts.
I'm very excited about this movie as it's not so much a sequel as it is a tribute to a great film and insight on the current lives of characters I and others loved in the first film. I think of it as Kevin Smith's "Before Sunset" and that's not at all a bad thing.

Your point? Thats what made the movie, the fact that it was made with such little money and it's still a comedy classic..it's one of the things people remember the most about the original..why change it? It was perfect. Mainstream actors, Suplee, Affleck, Jason Lee, he even got his fucking wife in it, AGAIN...this is what Clerks DIDNT need, is a bunch of mainstream fuck ups like this shit for brain cast..yeah yeah I know what you're going to say, they were in his other films, big shit. His other films werent as good as Clerks. The original didnt need an all star cast of horrible actors when they just picked people off the street to do the film.

And I can guarentee theres going to be more in this film than discussions on pop culture and stupid situations, it's now going to be the flavor of the week, a typical new age comedy is what this film is probably going to be. And if you didnt notice this whole film doesnt take place in the burger joint. Yes, I know Clerks spent a good 6 minutes away from the Quickstop, but I have a feeling judging from the commercials half this film wont take place in the burger place. Oh yeah, speaking of burger place, doesnt this film remind you a bit of "WAITING"? Not only was that a shitty movie, but ripping it off, jesus it's bound to be worse. How creative Kevin Smith, he should have laid off the weed because after Dogma the dude has clearly ran out of ideas.
Now, as for Snakes on a Plane..
Both Snakes and Clerks II look like abominations, face it people, you dont like it because Samuel L is in SOAP, shit Freedomland never got this much attention, nor did Changing Lanes, where was the "CHANGING FUCKING LANES!! YEAAH! SAMUEL L!!" bullshit? but because it's the fucking COOOOL thing to like, Snakes on a Plane, the cool "new cult classic" to like. One internet "cult follower" fuckwad likes it, the rest like to follow, the movie doesnt look good and you know it. In fact it looks like shit, so stop trying to act cool before you make yourself as dumb as you already are.

^^Someones on their period.
Calm the fuck down.
As far as "half of it taking place outside the burger joint", where the fuck do you get that? Only one clip is outside the burger joint. And that is Randall in a go-cart. Which could very eaisly be the same thing as them playing hockey on the roof or going to the funeral. Notice how he is wearing the same t-shirt as the one under his work shirt? That points to the fact thats its on the same day.
And as a matter of fact, they ALL have the same shirts on the entire time. Randall has a grey one, Dante has a brown one, and Rosario Dawson has a green one. Its lookin like this one will all take place on one day as well.
If you want to think it might be bad, cool. But i can tell by your post you have already decided its bad. If it comes out and its the greatest of all of Smiths movies, your going to stick by it being a piece of shit, just so you wont have to admitt how wrong you were.

Man I dont remember the preview off hand but I do know I saw several scenes where they arent in the restaurant...playing hockey on the roof WAS at the quickstop there pal.
Edit: Alright I just watched the preview again and I thought there was a part where they were in some sort of dance club, appearantly it's still at the restaurant, so scratch out that half movie shit. I dont know if its for the better or worse though considering it'll be MORE like Waiting".

I never said it was bad, I said it looks bad, and it's always rare that I'm wrong whenever I think something looks bad, and I see it, and it's bad.
Greatest Kevin Smith movie? Shit, I already know thats not going to happen. I know already from the previews it's going to be like his new "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" humor and just pure piss poor new age "WEDDING CRASHERS" comedy. I'll see it, but I'm not all high hopes.
And no one has still commented on how this movie looks like a complete fucking rip-off of "WAITING"..WAITING of all movies.
Edit: Now that I've watched the preview again it reminded me of how UNFUNNY this movie looks. OHH they put flies on Jays burger, HAHAHA! Nothing more exhaustingly funny then a restaurant clerk fucking up someones food, clever Kevin.
Also Jays dance at the very end, oh, "ROTF" type of shit there.
How much weight do you think Jeff Anderson put on over the years? Jesus age he's got the double chin going.

Are you suggesting he copied off of Waiting? Sorry man, but how long do you think it takes a movie to be made. That movie came out less then a year ago. Are you saying Smith saw waiting, wrote the script, casted it, rehearsed it, got all the locations built, shot it, and edited it in a matter of months? It might be similar to Waiting, but lots of movies are similar yet VERY different in quailty. And I am sure Smith had the idea for this movie LONG before the idea for Waiting came about.

True dat, most writers actually write scripts YEARS before they even take another look at them and submit them.

Saw it on thursday, funny movie. Was a pretty vulgar movie, but kept me laughing the whole time. Not sure if clerks fans will like it, seemed kinda like jay and silent bob strike back to me

I saw it on thursday, i thought it was pretty funny. It has a nice transition from black and white to color. To answer some stuff people have been talking about in here:
The movie does take place primarly at Mooby's except when they are driving away from the quick stop and they go go-karting (about 90 second scene).

Dude, atreyu_2020
SOAP is a mindless-summer-action-thriller. No one ever expects more, that's why we like it. Just mindless eye candy: Samuel L Jackson, explosions, water, snakes, and screamin' bitches. I take it you don't like mindless-action, so stop yammering about shit you don't like and tellin' everyone that they know it sucks.

It got an 8 minute standing ovation at Cannes. From what I've seen from the trailers and read from pre-screenings, it looks good.

I just saw the ad on tv for it! Too cool! I am actually exited about seeing a movie (which for me rarely happens). I agree that it will more than likely be nowhere near as good as the original clerks..... but I am just happy to see all the original characters in a movie again. Is jason lee playing "earl" in the film? On the tv ad I saw him all trailer-parked up along with his oaf brother "randy".
I dont expect it to be good..... but like I said I just want to see the old gang back at it again. I cant wait! :D

I'm looking forward to Clerks 2. I don't think Kevin Smith is going away from the same idea or ideals as the original Clerks. I think having the film in colour shows a transition in the way he has made films over the years and the growth he has achieved. Kinda like the way he's portraying Dante and Randal as grown up.. although I don't think they've achieved anything ;)

I totally agree. I was actually thinking about this today and I realized that the characters Nate and T Dog from Waiting are pretty much crappy rip-offs of Jay and Silent Bob. I liked both Clerks and Waiting, though.

I decided that I would be seeing this movie based strictly off the critics reviews it got. Critics loved the original, so if they loved this one, then I too would love it, like the transitive property or whatever. And so far, critics are liking it.
I liked reading this.
The first thought that came to my mind as this film started and laughs began to sneak out of the audience – which included my sorry ass – was, “Phew, I’m so fuckin’ glad this movie doesn’t suck!”
Cause basically all I have been thinking since the previews on TV started were "Please god dont let this movie suck."
