Anybody else have a problem with a price tag of $250? Nintendo's aim with their 7th generation console is to make it a must have in all households. They want it to appeal to non gamers (which is why they changed the name to Wii, Revolution sounds threatening to the non gamer) so that they would buy it. $200's cheap, So people who are new to the gaming industry wouldn't be afraid to buy it and the hardcore gamers wouldn't mind picking it up with their PS3/360.

If they make the mistake of raising the price $50 from what it originaly was it will ruin their plan. $50 seems like a lot more than it really is. The voodoo magic of advertisement will make it seem like it's $100's more than the original price. This price will scare away non gamers and make gamers think twice about getting the system. At $250 it's only $50 less than the core 360 system which doesn't make much sense, considering it costs much more to make a 360 than a Wii.

I mean face it, the Wii isn't worth $250. It can't cost much to make and it's not much stronger than the Gamecube. So that's pretty much $250 for a slightly stronger Gamecube with a neat remote and some cool options.

Before anyone gets pissed off at me, I'm hyped for the Wii and it looks like it's going to be a good system. A long as it costs no more than $250, I'll get it. I'm just speculating on how it is a bad idea for Nintendo to sell it at $250.

And before all of you make the assumption that it will be $250, the article never says that the Wii will cost that much, it only says that it will not exceed that price. So the price of the Wii is still unknown. They where only saying that it may cost more than previously thought.

$250 is about £140/150, I think?

That's pretty reasonable, I might get one myself.

however nintendo have labeled this console as aimed at the more less gamer part of the population, women, young kids and old people ....

I need somthing that will contain lots of violence. Someone link me to a Wii game with lots of violence and i might get one.

oh and add about £10-15 to the conversion if your English

I'll just go and see what games are released with it. Or which are soon to be available. If atleast 5 interest me, I'll probably buy it. A console ain't shit without decent games.
Things which I like about the Wii though is that it won't have some super fancy graphics, meaning it'll have to rely on the gameplay more. More companies should focus on the gameplay, and not making everything shiny, reflecting, and just unnecessary stuff.

It won't be more than $250, Nintendo has said that several times. I'm really hoping it's only $200, but I'll still get one if it's $250. I think that since the 360 and PS3 are more expensive Nintendo might slap on a $250 price tag just because they can. At the same time though, they might stick a $200 price tag just because they can, which would really lure people... it is 1/3 the price of a PS3.

a nice gun game, looks freaking sweet, since the wii is practically designed for first person shooters

Nintendo is now targeting hardcore gamers like you as well. Since you are a huge fan of FPS, imagine what you can do with the wii controller? Red Steel and Metroid Prime 3. Awesome stuff from what I'm told.

Nice price. I'm not going to get a next gen console but I think the Wii will be the most successful.

I much rather get a $400 Xbox 360 and a $250 Wii than one $600 PS3.

no offense, that fps is pants ...however say fun for 9 year olds.

-no blood
-no crazy body recoil from explosion
-no screaming rage
-no decent enviroment interaction (wall marks, explosions)

oh and the Wii controller doesnt look that good for fps games, the mouse and keyboard is good for fps games.

soz bout music, however that gives about 0.001% of the gameplay (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-216493559966026030&q=FEAR)

^^^I agree, I don't think the Wii is the system to get if your favorite type of game is first person shooters. Nintendo has always been less bloody/violent than the other systems and if you want FPS like Half-Life and FEAR then it's just not the console for you. I personally don't like FPS on consoles in general so that's what I have my computer for. My main interest in the Wii is for Zelda, Mario, and SSB. I'll probably end up trying out metroid but don't have super high expectations for it.
