Anybody else think LucasArts adventure games from the early 90's/late 80's are some of the best games ever made? Sam and Max Hit the Road, All of the Monkey Island games, Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Loom, The Dig, Grim Fandango, the list goes on! All of them had all of the things that so many games of today are missing.

I prefer the sierra adventure games, but those (especially the maniac mansion sequal) are right up there

I <3 ADVENTURE GAMES!!! I grew up on them, everything from Zork to Myst.
Grim Fandango was really the last great one, for me anyway. They don't make games like that anymore, and probably never will mass produce any ever.
It saddens me that game developers are going the wrong way with game design nowadays. Too many tutorial heavy, cut scene laden, cheap clone games everywhere.
I swear I haven't played a new game that even raised my eyebrow since Katamari Damacy. Maybe I need to start a thread about and whine about in there. :p

Hoo-Ray~! I'm not the only one who loves these games. Everything that was mentioned here, I own! We'll.. At least half of them are legit proper copies.
Full Throttle was a great one... Short.. But great.
Day of the Tentacle... Oh lord. Just can't start to describe it. ><, Voice acting was a bit blegh though.
Grim Fandango. Truely the greatest Adventure Game Ever.

There really hasn’t been anything that has even come close to how good these games are. I just played through my whole collection a few months ago, including all of the Monkey Islands, Indy and the Last Crusade, Indy and the Fate of Atlantis, DotT, Full Throttle, The Dig, and Sam & Max. Scummvm is a life saver. Without it, there’s no way I’d be able to play any of them. Monkey Island 2 is still my favorite game of all time, followed closely by Monkey Island 1 and Grim Fandango. Unfortunately, I can’t get Grim Fandango to run on my comp. I’ve tried everything imaginable and nothing works. I’ve been waiting for something like scummvm to come out that supports it, but there’s nothing so far.
EDIT: That reminds me. I should change my avatar.

I’m running XP too. A lot of people are having problems associated with newer HT processors, though. I tried turning off hyperthreading but that didn’t help. With it on, it constantly freezes and with it off, the cutscenes get really choppy to the point where you can’t even understand what they’re saying. I've tried several other things too, but nothing seems to work. I know that some of the guys who work on the scummvm program are working on another program that is supposed to be able to run it, but it could be a while.

I propose the development of FandangoCube.
It will be a Grim Fandango only gaming console. :raiseeyeb

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is still my favorite game of all time. I only beat it once. It was such a good game.
Took me years to beat it haha.
I like the original starwars dark forces shooter too. Another great one.
Lucas arts games from 97-2000 are my all time favorite games.
